KUMB Writers’ Player Of The Month February 2006

We were a match short this February, this being caused by Man Utd being too busy with the Carling Cup on the last Saturday of the season. It was, however, a decent month results-wise with a record-equalling 7 match winning streak coming to an end in front of 6,000 Hammers, two Bolton supporters and a whippet at the Reebok Stadium.

The start of the month saw the Barclays Premiership Player of the Month award go to Anton Ferdinand. In our own monthly round-up Anton’s mark of 7.38 saw him take third place. Nigel Reo-Coker took the silver medal position with an impressive 7.75, a mark normally good enough to take the top spot in most months.

However, top of the hit parade (as we used to call it) for February, taking his second monthly award in a row, was Danny Gabbidon who averaged 7.88 over the month.

Interestingly, if that’s the word, Danny’s award in February means he is the first person to win two of our monthly awards, the previous winners being:

August/September: Anton Ferdinand
October: Paul Konchesky
November: Hayden Mullins
December: Yossi Benayoun
January: Danny Gabbidon

Danny’s fine February was also good enough to take him to the top of the table in the hunt for the annual player of the year awards. The full table:
