A brief history

A brief history …of well, up til now! With a brief break in coursework, I finally get back to writing again.

What a helter-skelter few months it’s been. The eternal high of beating Moan UTD, the continued escalation passing Sunderland, but the crushing emotions of the loss to Spurs.

Also, losses in the league either side of the cup exit….

So what can we look forward to?

* The completion of the new West Stand.

* The call-ups of Cole, Carrick and Lampard to the England squad.

* The hope that when Suker comes back from Croatian duty, he has remembered what football is.

* A restructure during the close season.

* Anticipation that Wimbledon will buy Camara for £7m.

Isn’t optimism a superb attribute?

Ok then, I’m writing this article whilst the England game is on and not only are there no Hammers in the starting lineup, but none on the bench either??

Having seen the named squad I found it difficult to believe we wouldn’t have at least one either starting or benched…… instead, our three are the only midfielders left out altogether.

Although their exclusion from the setup may provoke better league performances to boost their chances of selection in future games.

Seriously, there are several players who are on form, but we are just not gelling properly at the moment.

Dailly – in my opinion is a good player, but as with others has had a few howlers.

Psycho – is top dog, as ever.

PDC – little bit patchy lately, becoming increasingly frustrated about decisions not given by refs etc.

Song – Ups and downs, unfortunately leaning mainly toward the latter, but as a big signing, Harry will persist even if his legs fell off.

Camara – ate all the pies, but as with Song, good money was paid. Maybe if Harry would play him in position though, he would be better equipped, requiring less pace and more concentration on accuracy.

Suker – Could lose his place to Kitson.

Sinclair – desperately missed.

Tihinen – excellent quality defender, well worth the money.

Soma – yet to impress in my mind.

Todorov – needs more games. Unfortunately up front is a position rarely experimented with.

Kanoute – The King

I.Pearce – Unfortunate with injuries, big plus when in the side.

Lampard – Finally starting to show some form.

Winterburn – As with Psycho, adds experience and solidarity.

Cole – Playing better, as suggested by the England call-up. Silky-skilled and dazzling spectators.

Carrick – My prediction for ‘one to watch’, has certainly turned a few heads this season. A more rounded and stronger player than Cole, rightly been in the starting line-up most of the season.

Stimac – Another shaky defender. Very solid, though this has resulted in many careless bookings and subsequent free-kicks.

Diawara – As with Suker, could lose his place to Kitson (if he stayed fit). At least he’s tried…. Hmmmm. That helps….

Schemmel – Very impressive on the wing. We’ll hopefully hold onto him next season.

Moncur – Despite few appearances, he has played well this season (12 games, 3 bookings).

Potts – Reliable as ever when called upon.

Charles, Lomas, Peacock – thanks but no thanks.

With a relatively low-key run-in compared to the lower teams we’ll have no problem staying up and hopefully at least return to the top half of the table.

Always look on the bright side of life, de do! de do de do de do …
