Review of West Ham’s Betting Partner Betway

Thanks in part to their club-record breaking sponsorship with West Ham United, and part for the quality services they provide, Betway has beaten many strong competitors and established their name in the UK online betting and casino industry.

Like many successful bookmakers, they offer more than just sports betting. Customers are invited to enjoy a range of industry-leading slots, table games, poker, and bingo. The company also offer a great range of bonuses and promotions for new and regular players alike.

Whilst they don’t provide mobile access via a designated application, players accessing the site via their phone are automatically directed to a much more handheld-friendly version. This makes sneaking on a cheeky punt on the Irons on the way down to London Stadium, or enjoying a few hands of blackjack on a busy commute a breeze.

Services Offered

Sports Betting

As you’d expect, Betway’s flagship product is their sports book. The company offer competitive odds on a huge number of different leagues, and tournaments across an impressive thirty sports.

In-Play Betting

In addition to their pre-match markets, Betway also provide various in-play betting opportunities. The choice here will largely depend on what’s happening sports-wise at the time. Players who love to take a punt in the heat of the action will be pleased to learn that Betway offers live betting on a good number of more eclectic sports as well as the likes of football, rugby and tennis.

The odds are quickly updated, and the user interface of the site makes putting bets in-play on almost as simple as pre-match.

Betway’s Casino offer some of the latest slots from one of the world’s greatest developers. Expect to see over 400 slots, and a vast selection of table games powered all by Microgaming.

In addition to the main casino section, there’s also a Vegas area. From a reviewer’s perspective, it’s hard to tell what, if any, is the difference between the Vegas and the Casino areas other than the page layout.

Live Casino

Every great online casino has their own Live Casino section these days, and Betway is no exception. Their immersive blackjack and roulette tables are provided by Evolution Gaming, so players are assured of a quality product. It can make a nice change from the bright lights of the slots to relax at the slower paced live room tables. Expect to see blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and various forms of stud poker on offer.

Showing their commitment to staying fresh in the online gambling world, Betway include a designated area for eSports. At the time of writing, there are only two different games: DOTA, or League of Legends, but as competitive gaming develops more will likely be added.

Like their casino package, Betway Poker runs on the Microgaming network. Whilst certainly not the highest traffic-wise the games will likely run a little softer than on PokerStars.

The Betway poker section has lots of great bonuses, including leader board giveaways, loyalty points and exclusive free-rolls. There are tournaments and cash games, and stakes range from the minuscule ($0.01/0.02) to the colossal ($50/100).

Ever the UK favourite, Bingo is of course represented at Betway too. Their package doesn’t differ much from the standard online bingo platform. You buy your tickets, you wait and see. Whilst not a game for everyone, the inclusion of the classic pensioner-pastime is thoughtful.
Deposit Options

There are loads of different ways to deposit at Betway. The minimum amount will vary according to you’re the method you select, so it’s worth checking that.

Customers can choose one of the following to deposit with:

• Visa/MasterCard credit or debit card,
• PayPal,
• Neteller,
• Skrill,
• PaySafeCard,
• EntroPay,
• Eco, or
• Instant Banking.

All sections of Betway offer generous bonuses. You could have a punt on the Irons opening game with the sportsbook bet £30 and get £30 free offer, and stick the rest on us lifting the silverware the end of the season too.

There are all kinds of other promotions constantly running too. There are handy refunds for your horse coming second in big races, a great accumulator cashback bonus, and loads of constantly updated odds boosts on upcoming markets.

Betway are anything but stingy with their freebies, and you’ll often sign into your inbox to be greeted by an irresistible offer to get you to sign in again. Not that that’s a problem though, they’re world class software, and user-friendly design make gaming there a real pleasure.

Mobile Access

As mentioned, there’s no designated application for Betway. Instead, they opted to make a dynamic mobile application that works great on a wide range of device types. They’ve stripped everything down to make browsing on any sized touchscreen device easy and intuitive.

Like many online casino companies these days, Betway offer support via three different sources. You can chat with them via text from the website, you can call them, or you can email them. Although not great for review purposes, it is testament to the support I’ve personally received whilst using Betway’s Live Chat feature that I’ve never had to make a call, or write an email.

Overall Verdict

Betway is a strong competitor to some of the more established bookmakers in the UK. With the revenue generated from their mass exposure through sponsoring West Ham United, they’ve managed to create a modern, sleek and highly-usable gaming platform that caters for just about every taste possible.

One minor criticism would be their insistence on favouring just one supplier for all their games. Whilst variety between the extensive collection of Microgaming slots featured at Betway is high, after playing several machines from a single manufacturer, you’ll often notice strong similarities between game play elements. The way a bonus might trigger, for example. It’s these subtleties that are often just as responsible for a tired feeling game as a repetitive thematic.

All that said, there are more than enough games for all but the most serious grinders. When you throw in all the juicy bonuses Betway send your way, a season ticket next year won’t be such a stretch, eh?
