Pellegrini gets his backing

There’s a different feel to this season’s build up and it has a lot to do with money. Three of the biggest transfer deals in West Ham's history - and the likelihood of more to come.

But it was the signing of Brazilian right winger Felipe Anderson from Lazio for £34m+add-ons that really caught the eye. In terms of Premier League spending these days it’s a modest amount, but combined with two or three other deals of similar size you can begin to see the possibilities.

The thought of the forward line - Anderson, Arnautovic and Yarmolenko will spread fear amongst most opponents. On paper all three signings are brilliant players but it remains to be seen if Pellegrini can mould them into a cohesive attacking force. If he can and he is successful, then the sky really is the limit.

Andriy Yarmolenko arrived from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £17.5m. As regards raw talent he is a match winner in his own right. Tall and graceful he’s blessed with a tremendous left foot and a shot to die for. When motivated he is unstoppable. The motivation may be the problem. He can be difficult and Pellegrini will have his hands full.

This year’s squad is larger than ever. Other additions include Issa Diop from Toulouse (£22m) Lucasz Fabianski and Fabian Balbuena. Not to mention a certain ex-Gunner by the name of Jack Wilshere. It’s very likely the Hammers will try to unload a few big names before the season kicks off. Rumours are rife and the fans are hoping they can hang on to the cream of last year’s team.

With a current spend of just less than £100m this year it may be necessary to part with Chicharito, Andy Carroll and a few others. A few have gone already but not enough. Marko Arnautovic is a sought after player. It is common knowledge that the Manchester United manager is a big fan. West Ham paid £20.5m for him but a conservative guide to a selling price doubles that amount. We must wait and see. I hope not.

The build up to a new season can become very frustrating what with the rumour factory running 24/7. Take time out to relax and play a little bingo but only on the most trusted bingo sites. It really helps and you can meet some great people in the chat sections. It really promises to be another great Premiership season. Let’s hope it’s going to be a successful one.
