Re: What are you playing right now?
The Gargoyles took me ages... think i was similar in that it took me until that point to "get" humanity and summoning. Its about now in the game that I started to feel quite powerful for the first time, obviously it doesn't last!!!! Think you are on your way to the first area that has some notoriety... good luck...

I'm going to lower Undead Burg for my next trip, which leads to The Depths and then.... Blightown. Yeah. I've heard a bit about that place.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Looking to get wind of weapons/upgrades, I have a Halberd that I've been upgrading and it's pretty hot, but I think I need to consider a few weapons each upgraded with fire, lightning and divine elements as mentioned by a friend. Lightning and fire seems to work well on a few enemies I've met and divine supposedly does extra damage on the undead so I will consider the right weapons and push from there.

Re: What are you playing right now?
I think what is unique about Dark Souls from a combative point of view is that every enemy in the game demands your respect, even the 'weakest' enemies. One false or understated move will lead to failure.
When you die, it's 95% your fault. It's never cheap or unfair, and it's probably justified in it's punishing of you if you are impatient.
Took me about a dozen tries to beat the Taurus Demon, and close to 15 to beat the Gargoyles. It's all about trial and error, and the ability to learn from your mistakes.

Re: What are you playing right now?
I know there's a really old Dark Souls thread, but I thought why not just keep this going with an update.
I'm not playing this much at the moment - usually one large session once or twice weekly(no time between juggling work, the baby, other commitments on my social calendar and the wife who detests me playing it, but I'll get to that!).
Since I last posted I've grinded through Undead Berg and laid waste to the frustrating Capra Demon. It took about 7-8 attempts, as the threat comes not just from him jumping on you the minute you enter the fog gate, but his two dogs that can decimate your health/stamina bar. But like a good few bosses in this game(and likely series) once you have its attack pattern down the fight is pretty simple.
Next up I wandered into The Depths. Pretty linear in it's layout and it's a good place to farm souls I've learned, and the Gaping Dragon is an easy boss compared to the Gargoyles and Capra. A damn shame I can't use the weapon I attained by hacking off its tail (need to upgrade my strength to a ridiculous amount).
Feeling insecure I went to Darkroot Garden, and basically stumbled around into the fight with Moonlight Butterfly, who is the only boss I've beaten so far on my first attempt. Ignoring Darkroot Basin until I'd leveled up I headed to Blighttown.
Blighttown. It's like Tilbury but slightly more friendly. They both make you shudder at the thought of going there.
Dark Souls players know the pain in walking into the place. Well, you do at least feel entering on your very first attempt the intimidating and poisonous environment fraught with ****ing danger above and below you. The poison dart guys are c****, the mosquitoes are also c**** and will continuously spawn, the Barbarians can kill you with their power in a few hits and the swamp slowly drains you of life by just standing in it.
BUT I found once you remove the threat of the poison dart guys and understand how the swamp's ill effects can be controlled with a few heals this becomes a much, much easier place to beat.
I've wandered the entire area now and have collected almost all the treasures and items barring a few because I have not killed Queelag yet. Tried three times and she got the best of me.
With the knowledge and the materials at hand I decided to leave Blighttown and head back to the Berg to upgrade my weaponry. I took a greataxe and upgraded it to a +5 Divine greataxe, increasing its damage output from about 180 to over 400. My trusty Halberd was at +4 when I headed to Blighttown is now at +9 and is a superb ranged melee weapon.
On a tip from a friend, I'm now going to head out to Darkroot Basin and find a fight with a black knight and swipe his weapon, which I believe is also a Halberd that does some serious damage.
My wife has watched me play this and wondered why I'd play a game I've died close to 100 times to (she likes Lego games).
I simply told her that no matter how many times I fail, the reward in beating a boss or clearing an area outweighs it a hundred times over. The reward is even greater than the challenge.
And that's why Dark Souls is so damn good.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Still World Of Warcraft August 28th marked one year of playing. Played at least an hour a day every day (apart from one day I was south at the London Stadium)
I have 118 days played in that time which is scary.

These few words sum it up superbly. For you, the best is yet to come however!!!SirStoneyOfBow wrote:My wife has watched me play this and wondered why I'd play a game I've died close to 100 times to (she likes Lego games).

Re: What are you playing right now?
Played through Dark souls 3 on PS4 a second time to play thought it all Solo and to do the DLC packs. excellent game and if anyone gets stuck and needs a hand PM me I'll gladly help
I've just started Diablo 3, which I tried a while back but frankly got bored. this time I have chosen to be a Demon hunter and its a bit more fun but what Diablo really has going for it for me is its an excellent game to play via remote play on the Vita, the combat is simple enough that i can easily play it and not take up the TV so the misses can watch her crime drama rubbish.

Anyone playing Dead by Daylight on Xbox?
It's quite a lot of fun if you like survival horror games.

Crysis. Played it when it came out, of course, but have gone back to it due to a general lack of decent single-player FPSs. Also had trouble running it on a modern 64-bit system, but the GoG version works fine for me.
Re: What are you playing right now?
Back playing No Man's Sky. Enjoying the new updates.
Really tempted to get the new XCOM 2 dlc, but refuse to pay more than I paid for the base game, so will wait until that comes down in price.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Been filling in some historical gaming gaps... currently passing the time with FNV (PS3), have The Last Of Us and the Uncharted trilogy on hold.
Keep meaning to fire up NMS again. Last time was when they introduced bases etc.

You will never know a greater feeling in gaming than downing Ornstein and Smogh :raver:SirStoneyOfBow wrote: I simply told her that no matter how many times I fail, the reward in beating a boss or clearing an area outweighs it a hundred times over. The reward is even greater than the challenge.

Really enjoying it so far, find PES a lot more realistic than Fifa. Some folk get really hung up about the licenses, but it doesn't really bother me.

You can download kit and badge packs online. I did it for PES 2016. It looked great.bobby0303 wrote:PES 2018 on xbox when I get the chance. The new slower pace is taking getting used to. I could give anyone a game last year but this time everyones wiping the floor with me.
