The one you couldn't love - but should've

Post by Up the Junction »

You know the one - universally acclaimed, best seller and all that - but you just didn't get it.

For me - Witcher 3. Tried twice, it's never gripped me for more than an hour or three.

You and yours?

For me it was Bayonetta. Played it for a couple of hours and the game frustrated me with awkward combo system and dodgy camera angles. I put it down and dont ever plan to go back.

Controversial but - Red Dead Redemption.

Played it all the way through, thought it was decent enough but I really didn't get the hype. And I'm not even bothered about the new one.

Same here.

Borrowed it off a mate who said it was the best game he had ever played, and in return I said Skyrim was the best I had played, so we swapped.

Both hated the other one's game funnily enough. I've still got it sitting in the cupboard somewhere, maybe one day it'll get another chance. 3rd time lucky?

I understand this, It took me ages to actually get the motivation to try the game and at first it felt like a chore. The more I played the more I wanted to explore and unravel the story. I did enjoy it and will be playing the new one but there are a LOT of better games out there.

Agree on Witcher III, i've also tried twice and bounced right off it.

Same with Fallout III & IV.

Although I enjoyed and played Red Dead Redemption, I find it inferior to GTA. I think i get most enjoyment in the sandbox format when you can just drive around and listen to music. But i never could find when to plug in the stereo on my trusty steed.

There are certain games that I know aren't for me (i'm 48!) - my boys like Overwatch for example, but I have no intention of being schooled like a "noob".

I like driving games (Dirt 4), but couldn't get even round the course on Project Cars 2. I wish I had it on disk (rather than download) so I could snap it in half.

A game that I finished, but didn't enjoy at all was BioShock Infinite (I enjoyed the first 2).

I liked The Witcher 3!

I couldn't get into the first Witcher. Didn't like the protagonist or the writing for some reason. I don't enjoy any with Anime or Manga art style, even though I've tried a few.

God of War III

Hadn't played any of the previous games in the series, but this came with the PS4 bundle I got. I played it for 60 minutes and hated every single one of those, quit the game, put the disc back into it's case and left it there.

Wipeout. Bought the newest version on PS4 but just couldn't get into it. Spent about an hour bouncing of the sides of the tracks and gave up.

Shadow of the Colossus - bought the PS4 remake as I'd heard such great thing. Did a couple of them and lost interest...

The Witcher 3 is astounding, but definitely takes a slog to get going. It took me three attempts to crack it, but I’m glad I did.

PUBG bought it after a few friends had it and found it to be the least fun I have had with a game for quite a while
