Despite being an avid gamer my whole life, I have never actually played a Pokémon game! I don't even understand what genre of game it is.
There is a new version coming out for Switch next week and my little boy is about to turn 7 and wants a new game. He is fairly good at video games, playing things like Forza, FIFA, Minecraft etc.
Basically, would this be a game he can sit and play on his own or is it too complex for a 7 year old?

Re: Pokemon on Switch
They are fine for a child his age, I would stick with the newer games though as the old ones have some strange developer logic.
The Lets Go games are tied to Pokemon Go, not sure about Detective Pikachu (it is getting it's own film with Ryan Reynolds voicing Pikachu )

Cheers I'll wait for the reviews but assuming it's not awful I'll give it a go
