Well, not entirely looking forward to it, if you know what I mean.

Still remember buying that popcorn for Saving Private Ryan and leaving it untouched for about forty minutes.

My great-uncle was captured at Dunkirk.

They sent him to a prisoner of war camp. He spoke High German, so they set him to work in the censor's office. Translating the mail that came in for the prisoners, I guess.

One day, something happened that never happened before or after. Totally irregular. The censor said he had to leave for a bit, and left my great-uncle alone with the pile of mail.

Hands up who thinks it was an accident that when he looked at the letter at the top of the pile, it was addressed to him.

Started reading it.

It was from relatives who had moved to America many years earlier.

"Such terrible news to hear that a nice Jewish boy has been captured by the Nazis..."

There's a saying that whoever saves one life saves the world entire. It's not literal, although it could be, in various senses. Meant to impart a value.

Well, I guess in this case, here was someone who saved a life.

My great-uncle had a luncheon appetiser that day.

Here are the six things watched l a st night:- https://tune.pk/user/FayRoss
I watched ' Dunkirk ' last night at the Eden Court cinema - it's a very good film , hope you enjoy it .

ps . That's a wonderful story about your Great Uncle .

Nope, unfortunately. I have not seen the first ID for many years now, but I think the only original cast member is "Gumbo" - honestly, please watch it, just to confirm my hatred of it is correct.....

Just watched Game of Thrones episode 2 and after last week's slow burner this was a classic GOT episode. Jigsaw pieces are falling into place now.

Season 4, Episode 5 of Power

Really good episode that was worthy of the slow build of recent weeks. Should be a couple of very exciting episodes coming up now.

Why are you wasting your time on arguably one of the best episodes, from one of the best series of all time when you could be watching ID2....

Some Mothers Do Ave Em triple bill right now on Yesterday.

Must have seen them a dozen times, yes it's dated but who cares, still makes me laugh like little else can.

There was no closure for the actual parents that we saw. No touching moment of them apologising and thanking Banville. What about the Uncle?
I dont think an emotional scene of apology would have sat right with the rest of the series - they were painted as not particularly nice people. I thought the Uncle's involvement was dealt with sufficiently in ep 5

What about her dream with her old man?
On this I concede - it was not explained at all and I am not sure of its meaning myself

Everything seemed to just fade out of view like they had no time left to do it properly, leaving only her and her ex boyfriend, a half baked part of the story which had little to do with anything really, other than helping shape her determination from truth.
A few words to the kid, that's it.

I didn't think anything else needed to be said at the end and was certainly left to suggest we could see Emma Banville taking on another lost cause at some time in the future.

The bomb may or may not have been real , it could have been defused by the Police who arrested the MP and his wife at the very end , it's sole purpose was to fool the audience . - As for the ' Dad Dream ' that wasn't explained at all and seemed unnecessary - like ' The Loch ' , ' Fearless ' had a rushed ending , ah well , it was a very enjoyable series and filled a few evenings .

Been watching ' In the Dark ' of late with the gorgeous MyAnna Buring - not bad , though it has gone off on a bit of a tangent in Episode 3 .

Thought S1 was good albeit some of the acting was a little wooden. S2 was very good.

If new to Prime, check out Goliath and Catastrophe too. Both are great. First 4 seasons of The Americans are on there too. One of the most underrated shows on TV IMHO.

Three episodes in with The Americans and really enjoying it. Great acting and deft characterisation with some good spy tension. Been on my list for a while and it's proving worth the wait.

Gets better with each season CMN. The 5th finished a month or two ago The final season being filmed now. Pretty sure they are edging up towards the thawing of the cold war soon so makes sense.

Thanks, Rascal. Looking forward to catching up with the whole lot. As I assume you have Prime; if you're looking for another 80s-set character drama with conflicting/conflicted couples, Halt and Catch Fire is well worth a look. Not as exciting but very well done and also gets better with each series.
