Chicken Run Supreme wrote:Shetland - final episode of the latest series which has been one of, if not the strongest yet.

After 6 excellent episodes all loose ends were tidied up and Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez finally nailed the culprit. Perez is a caring DI but doesn't suffer fools gladly and is effortlessly played by Douglas Henshall. However the acting honours went to Stephen Walters as the No1 suspect Thomas Malone and the ending was so sad it reduced Mrs CRS to tears. Pleased to hear the announcer say Shetland will return next year.

Yep, the standard of acting in this and the storyline were superb. Agree entirely about Stephen Walters, wonderful performance and the 'ending was, as you say, tough to take but quite bold from the writers point of view I thought .
Douglas Henshall also brilliant, full of emotion but beautifully understated.,

More please!

Vikings - season five, episode one

The best thing on TV for years I reckon. The whole series of series have been compelling viewing for me since it started.

Series 5, has 20 episodes with a break in between which is a pain in the arse. We finished 10 of the episodes a couple of months ago. You won't be disappointed.

Where can I find Vikings - season 1?

Looking for something new to watch, as you guys seem to be raving about it, feel like I should give it a try.

Here it's on the History channel and you can watch prior episodes if you have the on demand feature.
The series get's better in my opinion when obviously it has become more popular and the budget seems to be generous.

Yes, it is a great series, just watched series 5 ep 9 last night on Amazon. Maybe the series isn't quite as strong as it used to be due to 'changes in personnel', but it is more of a comment on how superb the whole lot has been, as it is still excellent and unmissable for me.

Season finale of Assasination of Gianni Versace.

Swayed from tense to trash quite often but still found it enjoyable. - Darren Criss was great as a Andrew Cunannan - I suspect a great deal was based on fiction considering the fate of most involved. - interestingly some of the most “out there” bits from the show were reported as fact (the dead dove, the fans soaking the magazine in his blood whilst he lay dying). - I didn’t see season 1 of American crime story but will check it out after this. - would recommend.

5 week old Jaguar Maya gets used to her new home in Kent. Interesting documentary about the conservation of big cats.

Just finished the box set of Midnight Sun - a Swedish/French thriller.

It's a bit off the wall but watchable for the first three episodes. The last five are excellent. Very good.
