I see Chernobyl is currently rated the second best series of all time, on IMBd.
Has a higher rating than Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.
It is fantastic.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Just caught up with the first two episodes of Chernobyl, and I have to agree with the general consensus on here, its really rather good isn't it. It's better than that, it's superb. It is eerily compelling and is edge of the seat viewing even though we know how it ends, outstanding.

What a riot.
Incredible fight scenes all the way through. Seriously enjoyable action film.

Mad Max - The original. Mostly stands up to the test of time. Still funny, dark and vaguely disturbing (I thought Toe cutter being a posh bloke was well intimidating: a clever yet sick individual (a bit Dave Cameron like ) Gory bits are old hat but Gibson makes a great fist of things and although I saw it on it's release many years ago, I couldn't remember the ending. I enjoyed it very much.

Oh I also caught some Taekwondo world championships on the TV. Saw quite a few heavyweights fight, Dan is right - it's pants. Seen better fights down the pub.

One thing is certain, there wont be a happy ending to this.DasNutNock wrote:Part two of laugh-a-minute comedy, The Virtues. Dunno what it is about Shane Meadows stuff. Equal parts excruciating and compelling.

Once Upon a Time in America. I've never seen it, despite owning it on dvd for many years, as the missus always says no when faced with the length of the film. So as she was on lates yesterday, I got home early from work, sorted my tea out and sat and watched it. Brilliant film. As someone mentioned on the greatest ever scene thread, the reveal at the end, when De Niro pieces it together is acting at its finest.

I'd go along with that Clacton. The first two were great fun but this latest film is a blast.Clacton-ammer wrote:Seen some critics say its the best John Wick, do you agree Overlook?
I heard that Cuenca. Great stuff.Cuenca 'ammer wrote: John Wick 4 to arrive in cinemas in 2021
I saw a quote from Keanu Reeves pretty much saying he'd keep making them as long as people kept going to watch them

Re: What did you watch last night?
how can one NOT watch..
it's a film of a video game. all action.
don't have to think about complex plot lines etc and whodunit - so it really entertains
and I mentioned somewhere earlier, he said he does 90% of his own stunts.

A truly epic movie with so many great scenes and a masterful De Niro performance from a time when he just burnt up the screen with his excellence.Monkey Mike wrote:Once Upon a Time in America. For me, it is Sergio Leone's masterpiece and stands shoulder to shoulder with The Godfather I & II. Morricone's score is the icing on what is a most delicious cake.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Homeland (binge watched) S03
glad Brody has gone, he's had more narrow escapes than Glen in TWD and she's getting about as obnoxious as Carl in TWD
decent show all in all though, Mandy Pantinkin is fabulous though. understated, dumped upon, stabbed in the back. but still manages to come through. he was good in Criminal Minds before it jumped the shark.
next big decision is the next binge watch
might be Mad Men.

Just watched The Goonies with my youngest. That really wasn't a very good film, in my opinion.

I'm always uncomfortable with rape scenes [ I guess most people are ] and it's been a while since I saw ' Once Upon A Time In America ' but what was the point of its inclusion in what is otherwise a masterful film ?
Watched the latest ' Mission Impossible ' film this morning , every single other film in the series has been very good , a couple have been excellent but this one was dull in comparison apart from the last few scenes .
