Walked straight past Roger Allam in Hay-on-Wye yesterday, only twigged it was him when I watched him do a talk on the Hippopotamus at the Hay festival later in the day.

Did you inform him that he has a disproportionately large head?

Met him when my daughter was in hospital a few years back, and in his own free time over the holidays stopped by the children's ward for a couple hours to raise spirits - of the moms mostly! Very friendly and down to earth. Was happy to pose for photos with anyone who wanted one. He didn't have handlers or PR flaks, just him doing it on his own. Always had wanted to dislike him but really couldn't after that.

Sounds like a lovely guy, but I'm struggling to think of many things a kid would recognise him from?

Dunno, didn't ask. He was having a drink with some mates. Seemed happy with life, well turned out.

I didn't recognize him from anything!

Every mum who was there did though. Definitely lifted their spirits. No small consideration in a place like that.

Very nearly literally bumped into Professor Green at Waterloo Station. Looked like he was hanging out of his arse.
