Nut allergy sufferers, specifically when they are on a plane, on a school trip or any other public place where THEIR issue affects others.

Yeah why not?

Look I'm not desperate to eat a bag of KP on a flight but I do generally become irritated when what I may want to do is encroached on by people who 1. Have an issue that is no concern of mine 2. Can't point to one death from non consumed nuts ever in the history of air travel.

It's the little things that irritate you thread , it's no real problem to me but it's just classic arse covering from the airlines without any evidence of real risk

She didn’t die (only stopped breathing) and it’s her problem not yours. Health and safety gone mad.

So in the Daily Mail, thr last bastion of reputable reporting.

There's no tested evidence of nuts being aerosolised causing this.

The point I was raising before you started bawling your eyes out is that where do you draw the line.

If you are SO allergic to a substance that you can'teven be in the same room as a nut product , then I would say that you have to really carefully consider travelling in a sealed metal tube with 300 other people.

One of whom may open some nuts at some point even if asked not to. If the parents know that this is likely to happen wouldn't you think that they wouldn't take the risk or perhaps the risk is massively overstated in general.

Maybe we should ask construction projects to be banned in case a window falls on a passer by , I've read about that happening too.

My point is about overstated risk

Here's an article that even references the case you brought up from The Daily Mail

Yep ok. It's a stretch using that article but there isn't any credible evidence to show that nuts aerosolise like this and hysterical articles in shitrags aren't a good reason to ban anything.

If it was a credible threat, the number of deaths in 100 years of commercial air travel would be absolutely huge . It's far more likely that she picked it up off an improperly cleaned item somewhere than nut vapour wafting down the cabin.

My original point was around overstated risk impinging on everyone else. FWIW it's worth if asked not to open a bag of nuts on a plane , I wouldn't .
