Running a statistical report from someone and when asking what date parameters they need, they reply with '9 days from yesterday'.
What the f*** is that supposed to mean? Days prior to? The 9 days including?
I'm assuming it's the 13th - 21st, but when dealing with statistical data, especially when making financial decisions on the back of it, there is little room for ambiguity.
Just say '13th - 21st'.

Did you deflate the chair and take it home, or was it just to watch the teenpop in comfort with the other dads?DasNutNock wrote:I went one year because I got free VIP tickets off someone. This was around 2004, so before I became a dad. I believe I went over to see this new band called "Snow Patrol", who were f*cking boring. The chair did marginally improve the experience, though.
However, yes, I did later deflate it and take it home.

Motorcyclists who fly along the road at a rate of knots, and then have a moan at people who "pull out of them".

Do you mean that you pulled out into a road without correctly judging the speed of the traffic on it?sendô wrote:Motorcyclists who fly along the road at a rate of knots, and then have a moan at people who "pull out of them".

Indeed, fancy not judging that the 'traffic' was massively exceeding the speed limitHampshire Hammer wrote:Do you mean that you pulled out into a road without correctly judging the speed of the traffic on it?

Unfortunately, in the eyes of the law, a bike could be doing 100MPH, but if you don't judge the fact he's hurtling along at that speed and cut across him and a collision happens - it's your fault. You have to judge the speed regardless on if it's illegal or not.hammerdivone wrote:

There is precedent too - there was a video of a bike going at 100MPH in a 60. Bloke turns right at a junction and bike hits him. Rider killed, car driver convicted.

As DL states in the eyes of the law, and common sense tells you, that if you pull out causing the oncoming traffic to brake sharply, swerve or have an accident then you are at fault. Doesn't matter if it is a motorbike, car or tractor. To be fair the original post didn't mention a speed limit, just that the bike was caning it.hammerdivone wrote: Indeed, fancy not judging that the 'traffic' was massively exceeding the speed limit
I guess this touched a nerve as I've had a couple of near misses recently when driving within the speed limit and some prat has pulled out in front of me causing an emergency stop.

Re: Little things that irritate you
In fairness to me, (a) he didn't have to swerve, I was out and travelling straight for a good few seconds before he decided to over take me and give it the "I'm a bike" salute, and (b) I was driving a white van at the time and, well, there's certain standards that have to be upheld.

have fun with them: leave them space, pretend you're not even seeing them, and when they're close enough make a quick move like you're stepping in their path.White Goodman wrote:People that ride bikes on the pavement and expect you to get out of the ****ing way for them.

No doubting the law is correct, doesn't make it right though-DL- wrote:Unfortunately, in the eyes of the law, a bike could be doing 100MPH, but if you don't judge the fact he's hurtling along at that speed and cut across him and a collision happens - it's your fault. Apparently, it's illegal to "advertise" your car as for sale whilst parked on the public highway, but only in some boroughs.

Dover District council are quite hot on cars 'For sale' on the main roads in the town. They often have council notices slapped over the advert in the car window. Don't get me started on the parking tickets the b'stards dish out either.sendô wrote:Apparently, it's illegal to "advertise" your car as for sale whilst parked on the public highway, but only in some boroughs.
