Re: Little things that irritate you
Clingfilm. Oh, it starts out fine, the first sheet pulled from the roll tears perfectly to the exact size you want, cutting nice and neat. But as you work your way through the roll the insidious little bugger shows it’s true colours, so by the time you’re halfway through you’re tearing smaller and smaller bits, and then you get to the point where, inexplicably, only half the width of the roll comes out, the other half wrapped round itself in a maze of strands that takes an age to unravel, by which time you’ve almost come to the end of the roll. Fiendish, spiteful stuff.

Or, operator error, or, that's what happens when you buy cheap clingfilm.

Half of me grudgingly acknowledges you’re probably right on both counts mate, then the other half refuses to accept I cannot operate something as simple as bloody clingfilm!!

Re: Little things that irritate you
Just seen an advert on Sky...
"Do you suffer from Tinutus.......then please listen carefully". !!!!
From the RNID, now rebranded by some utter twonk as 'Action on hearing loss' .
Can you imagine the meeting when they decided that to have Royal patronage in this modern world was somehow 'not relevant' and the type of people in the room?
Unless, of course they were another 'charity' with a few skeletons in the cupboard and had to change their name ?

Re: Little things that irritate you
Is royal patronage relevant in the modern world then?
The new name is more inclusive as it includes people with partial hearing loss, and 'action' sounds far better than 'institute'.
I'm with the twonks.

Re: Little things that irritate you
Tend to agree about royal patronage. Maybe it's also the case that people tend to switch off a bit nowadays as soon as they realise it's a charity thing...after endless adverts and appeals on the TV. Ultimately, the important thing isn't maintaining traditions but raising as much money and awareness as possible. And that ought to be measurable.southbrishammer wrote:Is royal patronage relevant in the modern world then?

Is royal patronage relevant....I'd say so but it seems everything is up for grabs in the modern UK?
The main point was the 'do you suffer from ..... not the bst phrasing ever

Re: Little things that irritate you
TBF, ambivalence about all things royal for a large section of the public is pretty long standing.Etonhammer wrote:Is royal patronage relevant....I'd say so but it seems everything is up for grabs in the modern UK?
Yes, that's a fair point. The 'focus group' dropped a b****** on that bit! :lol:Etonhammer wrote:The main point was the 'do you suffer from ..... not the bst phrasing ever
