Driving home down the M1, M25 in that storm tonight.
Got back on the A12 and it stopped almost immediately after having to drive for an hour and half in it on the motorways.

An actual scene from 'The Wire' there - Jimmy McNulty having the exact same issues.DasNutNock wrote:Trying to make an Ikea wardrobe sit even on floors more pissed than an airline pilot.

Did he buy some metal brackets off Amazon and fix it to the wall like I just did?WestHamByTheSea wrote:An actual scene from 'The Wire' there - Jimmy McNulty having the exact same issues.
Anyway, her room looks brilliant - LED striplights in her bookshelf and behind her desk, lava lamp, Alexa-controlled bulbs in her desk lamp and ceiling light. Mirrored doors on the new wardrobe, new perfectly fitted desk next to the window. Her echo dot and stereo set up with the backlit LEDs to match the same colour. The sort of room I’d have killed for when I was a kid.
Brought her and the wife up to show them and they both expressed complete indifference and buggered off.

Not as far as I'm aware Dan - will posit it to David Simon as I will kill for the merest oppo to get a new season of 'The Wire' commissioned!DasNutNock wrote:

Don't get too disheartened about the initial ennui re the room, I think it'll sink in gradually. Having your dad put work into making a kid's life better in a specific way is one of life's great joys - at the very least you'll know you did the right thing. Or at least you can retune it to a man-cave if you don't get some gratitude within 5 years. (Sorry for saying "man-cave", I can imagine that alone getting on this thread as a phrase, but an alternative didn't spring to mind).

'Er indoors does that. She will be talking to someone, and turn round to me and say didn't he?, didn't she?, etc. Which while being a tad annoying in itself, she is often referring to something where I wasn't even there!!!

The trick is, when she does this, look at her incredulously and exclaim, "You said nothing of the sort!".Dover KUMB fan wrote:Not quite that bad, but not far off

I 'won' £2.10 on the Euro tonight.
The ticket cost £2.50.
It doesn't feel like a win..
Shirley the least you can win should be at least your money back..
