I half jokingly said to my brother (a solicitor in Scotland) "I wonder how many 'insane' killers are diagnosed by lawyers rather than doctors", he surprised me somewhat by saying very few, because as a defence it rarely works.Samba wrote:The suspect in the train stabbing case getting in amazingly quick with his, 'I'm mentally ill', defence...

That sounds nasty, the cut not the tequila!WHU Independent wrote:Falling UP some stone stairs and cracking the centre of my skull on them, Claret everywhere, stuck my head under the sink straight away when I got in and run cold water on it. Woke up with a scarlet pillow, hair matted like Bob Marley's dreads, and the biggest scab I've ever had, on my head. I've had it checked out, it's just a deep gash, no stitches and no fractured skull, so all good,
To confirm, drink was involved, namely tequila, straight, sipped not slammed..

This load of nonsense.

So, are actors only allowed to play themselves now? Are they going to rescind Daniel Day Lewis's oscar for My Left Foot?

On a Similar vein, the BBC having someone in an electric wheelchair representing all disabled articles. I mean, I get the test an electric wheelchair, or accessibility stories. But really, blind & deaf stories being headed up by her? Why not get more disabled people on board, so that they can provide a more personal and targeted story, rather than what to me seems like some kind of tick-box exercise?sendô wrote:This load of nonsense.

Surely this would also mean that only women should be allowed to play women.sendô wrote:This load of nonsense.

The term "acting" is completely lost on the dimwits. They're the sort of people who get offended at comedy content too.sendô wrote:This load of nonsense.

People still saying happy new year to me.
The cut off has gone. Just because you haven't seen me since before Christmas, you don't need to say it.

Had no idea there were 'agencies' hawking round spurious stories like above.
Don't know whether to get narked or just laugh at red-tops using anonymous 'experts' and 'scientists' . At least The Sun make it clear they're bolloxing with words like 'boffins'. Have used these kind of articles when introducing undergraduates to 'claims and warrants' and referencing demands.
Think I even wrote 'Sauce?' on some homework once.

Re: Little things that irritate you
Whats extraordinary about that dire weather warning above is that its a link to the Daily Mirror, which then quotes and links in The Daily Express as its source.
Since when did national newspapers quote other national newspapers as their source?
Are they both owned by the same people now?

Both owned by Reach plc (who also own the Sunday Express, the Daily Star & OK!), since Feb 2018.
