Little things in life that make you smile

Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.

Mars is just about as close to the Earth as it gets. Not quite, but nearly. It's the bright orange thing low in the south around midnight.

Tonight I added to my list of local urban wildlife that I have spotted - walking my dog in a small wood down the road a deer pelted through about 15 metres away. A few seconds later two dogs went the same way, returning the same way empty-pawed.

Moved back to the UK earlier in the year. Have my first season ticket since leaving in 07 and hearing match of the day theme tune tonight has left a beaming smile on my face :scarfer:

Played cricket for first time in 36 years yesterday. Mate's birthday and he hired a pitch (court? square? octagon?) for beer, barbecue and a fun knockabout.

I made 12 flukey runs, including a four off my elbow, but was stumped standing outside the crease by some absolute twonk I hadn't met before, who had turned up in full white kit of the arse-end retard village team he played for. And he had his collar turned up.

Later on, after he had spent 15 minutes ostentasiously stretching and pulling batting poses by way of a warm up, he was out for 0.

Seeing a Smart Car with parking scuffs on each corner. Don't quite know why I found it quite so amusing, but I did.

Kinda feel sorry for the owner that a car that small they still clearly can't park it.

Also, a few weeks back, I withdrew and Elderly Person's Freedom Pass after a girl used it on my bus. It was sent back to TFL, and I thought nothing of it - but it turned out it was stolen in a burglary from a pensioner's home earlier during that day, and as a direct result of me withdrawing it, the CCTV was pulled from the bus, a face was put to the person that used it and they were known to police and they've been nicked.

I found out a couple of months ago that someone I know, who is notoriously tight arsed, was caught by TFL using his mum's freedom pass to travel to and from work in central London every day, and as a result he's been given a hefty fine and she's lost her pass.

Made me chuckle for all the times he's ducked a round, or the time when he turned up to a party at mine with knock off Aldi red bull and beers and proceeded to drink all my decent stuff.

Pretty soon I'll make assistant manager, and that's when the big bucks start rolling in.
