Feeling really ill and decided to pop into town after work rather than go straight home. Bumped into a young lass who (for reasons best not disclosed) had her kids taken off her by Social Services but, as part of the Youth Work advocacy I was part of in my previous job, now has a stable and secure home with her Children.
It was over 2 years ago that we advocated in a Social Services hearing. The fact that I did anything to help was just part of my job, man. She is so well, healthy and happy so, when we bumped into each other day, I cried :(

That's superb. Sometimes it's the wake up call they need - and removal is always the last resort. Such a lovely story to warm the cockles.

Just gave the cat some Waitrose caviar and he’s now going absolutely batshit round the garden.

Ever heard the (possibly mythological) tale that if you feed cats starfish they go batshit crazy before keeling over dead?

Just putting that out there

I bought them as a reminder for my mum of the cocktail party her parents held in the early 1980s - her mum died this year and I thought she’d appreciate it. Anyway, they only last 3 days after opening, so it’s not like we can do much else with them.

But yeah, I am the sort of lavish spender that can blow the price of a pint on a Christmas canape.

Managed to get my tv to load a bit of unsupported software so it can be controlled by Alexa. Pointless exercise, granted, but it’s still oddly rewarding to make a bit of kit do something it isn’t meant to be able to.

Just fed the dog Japanese Wagyu Sirloin, and filled his water bowl with Dom Pérignon Rose Gold, might let him shag the cleaner later if he's a good boy.

Absolutely nothing that I couldn’t already do using the remote or the app on my phone. Also, the Alexa is in the kitchen, so I have to shout to make it change channels or switch off.

I think I could theoretically set up a “routine” to switch it on at a specific time or whatever, although I can’t think of a single reason why I’d want to do that. So basically I wasted about 20 minutes and achieved nothing. Great success!
