Little things in life that make you smile

Some boy racer screaming down the bus lane in East India Dock road - past all the other drivers who were in legal lanes - with an exhaust that sounded like it came off a tank, revving his car to the max, getting a really throaty and deep roar, until suddenly he gets a few "Fut Fut Futs", his engine packs and his car stops.

The continual stream of motorists and cyclists. laughing and pointing at him as they rubbernecked past made me break out a wide smile.

Also a mix up at work. A woman who had been on holiday for a while, returned. I asked "How's your hols?"

She went bright red and said "What did you just say?" in a very upset and angry voice.

Confused, I said, "How's your hols - you know the holidays you have just come back from?"

"Oh, I thought you said how were my holes," in a very sheepish fashion.

Cue lots of laughter from most of the staff - and me.

Just got on a busy train to Brockenhurst and asked if a seat next to this Doris was free - she reluctantly said yes and gave me a dirty snarky look as if I had the temerity to ask, as clearly her bag was very comfortable there and couldn’t be moved. Little does she know that I had a curry and a few beers last night and I am just about to let rip something silent and deadly .....

Getting home from work and it still being warm and sunny, and getting to spend an hour in the garden with the kids enjoying it.

I had yesterday and today off to do the allotment and garden, with wife & kids. Summer is clearly on the horizon and it feels GOOD.

When your daughter is strict with sweets with your granddaughter and you nod the wink to said granddaughter and hand her a cheeky slab of choc only for her to wink back, only 4 years old

Sorting the squeaky garden door hinges with a dab of olive oil, and my family's total astonishment that it worked.

Our lovely cat Geoff lost his final scrap with cancer a few weeks ago. The ever fragrant Mrs Monkeybubbles is lost without some pussy in her life.

Welcome.....Pedro Omiaow

Should a house pet have a mane?

I'm not sure I'd be able sleep at night with that thing plotting my death every day..
