Or the untold thousands upon thousands who watch another telly in a place where there's only one telly. When our local pro team play, or indeed and CL especially Real or Barca, there's loads of people lined up on the pavement watching through a shop doorway.

But of course it seems better than "We have no fckuing clue how many actually watched or are watching. Sorry."

There is a Football team in Dublin called T.E.K United the initials stand for Tel El Kabir a battle fought and won by the British army over the Egyptians in 1888. Considering all things British military are not that popular in the Republic I am intrigued by this choice of name. Anyone shed any light on this?

Thats not true at all. The Irish have a proud tradition and history of fighting in British forces for hundred of years up to and including WWII. My uncle was proud to serve in the RAF during the war as an engineer. I used love to hear his ribald stories of the shenanigans they got up to and how no matter what they were doing they always stopped to count the planes home. He has sadly passed on now.

People forget that the 1916 uprising in Ireland was hugely unpopular with the vast majority of Irish all of whom had relatives fighting and dying in the trenches. The fact that despite our lives spent in sevice to the crown, you renaged on the promise of Home Rule, murdered those involved in the uprising and sent over the ****ing Black and Tans, tipped the balance and pissed us off again which kicked off the War of Independence.

Obviously (except to the most pedantic) using 'you' in its informal plural sense. Not aimed specifically at you (singular) Shammy.

Not Silver Street in Edmonton ?? Oh dear ... good luck with that one.

As for TEK , the connection is Thomas Sutton who fought at the Battle of Tel-EI-Kebir. When he returned to Ireland he started a Dairy in Dublin and named it T.E.K. which stands for Tel-El-Kebir. The founder of T.E.K. named the club in honour of his relative who opened the dairy.

If every single person in the world, whos got a cold, went into incubation until it had gone, and didnt come into contact with anyone else until they were clear of it ( stopping any contagious activity ), would the cold virus die out, or would it just resurface somewhere else at a later date?

In other words, is it a virus that 'appears' or does it need to be spread ?

You would also have to disinfect anywhere they have been in the last 48 hours just to be safe.
This could work..

Yes, that would work. Except that would require people not being dirty, filthy disease-ridden b*stards.

We'd need to stop people with colds getting on trains, sneezing everywhere, wiping snot on their hands, touching door handles, coughing etc.

Yes, that one.
Despicable place.

Tottenham, Wood Green, that part of North London etc, is the only place I've ever felt uncomfortable in. Don't know why.

You think the common cold virus is anything to do with natural mutation?

There is NOTHING we can do to stop it, as there will always be a multi-billion pound/dollar pharmacy syndicate that makes sure there's a demand for their product.

Ha ha ... that's where I'm from. Born in Tottenham and now live in Wood Green. Oh and I agree, there are certain parts of Tottenham and Edmonton that to an outsider are very sinister. There's a shooting there almost every week - I think the record is six in one week - a mate of mine witnessed two of them yet nothing was reported anywhere, not on the news, papers radio .... nothing. Scary indeed.
