Anything goes in The Snug, General Discussion's rebellious little brother. An off-topic den of iniquity where any subject not covered elsewhere may be discussed. Well, anything except golf, Star Wars and Arsenal.
does anyone remember those pop up clearance auctions?
usually in an empty shop in a seaside town, that's where I used to see them anyway.
always looked well dodgy, see people buy a camera for £20 apparently worth nearer £100 but always went into a black bin bag then they get ushered out quickly.... sure i heard someone say it was usually either a brick in the bag or just a crappy item not anything like what was being held up!
Basically we started out riding on the left and the French just had to be different and ride on the right. Those that drive on the left tend to be more civilised countries, those that drive on the right are more your baby raping upstarts with zero class sort of countries.........
I found it quite fascinating some years ago, when the first time I went to Le Mans 24 Hours, that my mate who was driving had to buy stickers to put on his lights on the car. Turns out that headlights point into the outside of the road slightly so that you don't blind the oncoming traffic.
If you drive on the other side of the road then the headlights are pointed into the middle If you don't apply the stickers when driving on the "wrong" side of the road, you would dazzle the oncoming traffic.
I spent minutes thinking about the science of it all.

I disagree (we'll you have to don't you) and think they look kind of flat because they are wearing compression bras to avoid any 'gyroscope' effect.
Any sporty types know what's what?
I'd take a guess that it's neither, and that it's more the case that they are just all pretty much flat chested.
You just don't get to become a decent runner if you've got a couple of weighty funbags swinging in the breeze.... For a whole host of reasons, a woman with a body type that includes a big bust doesn't have a body type ideal for elite standard running.
My first proper girlfriend was very busty. Lots of fun for me, of course, but she was quite limited in a lot of things. Running was obviously uncomfortable, even with maximum restraint. Even doing stuff like playing tennis, they'd get in the way. She was quite fit, a decent swimmer, but they certainly limited her athletic abilities. And that was in a "having a knockabout over the park" kind of way. At the elite level, having a flat chest must be very much an advantage

The reason we drive on the left is that, prior to the automobile, the main form of transport was Ye Olde Horse & Cart. As most people are right-handed, they would prefer to mount/dismount the horse from the left hand side. Accordingly, motorised transport followed suit rather than drive head-on at Uhu and his handler.
I have no idea why most of Europe/The Americas drive on the right, though.
It's commonly thought that in the dark days of Knights etc, the majority of people were right handed and thus had their sword on the left. Keeping to the left hand side of roads meant that people travelling in the opposite direction were forced to ride on your right, enabling you to defend yourself if necessary.
The Romans used to stay left as well if the excavated Roman quarry is anything to go by as the tracks were deeper on the roads as they left with loads and it showed they drove on the left.
The Yanks, being different, used teams of horses to move goods and the driver sat on the rear left horse so he could manage the rest with his right hand. They stayed right so he could keep an eye on the left hand side of the carts to ensure they didn't hit another cart going the other way.
Apparently, the French were just beligerant and defied the Holy Roman Emporer who decided left was right (if you know what I mean). When Napolean started his move to rule the world, any country he overrun would move to right hand travel. Those that resisted stayed left (or were conquered by the British so did it the right way).
Most laws on travelling left or right appear to have been done in the 1700's so it's been that way a while!
That's why I said MOST
Finland moved (after Russia told them to) in 1858
Japan was 1872 after the British helped them build railways (voluntarily at this time)
Canada fully in 1949
