It’s about the flower of the young men of the Scottish army who defeated the English at Bannockburn. So, more English hating, really.

They used Jerusalem at the Commonwealth Games for the medal ceremonies. And lovely it was too.

Not 'always wanted to know' because I only thought about it last night, but...
What effect on a game would it have if the ball was filled with helium?
I imagine it'd not be correct under the Laws for the weight of the ball, for starters, but would the same strength kick make it go further, would it go higher (would it come back down?!), would it swerve and move more in the air?

Del

that kinda describes one of the games (the ONLY game) I went and watched here...

8500 ft up

goalkeeper punts the ball off the other end of the field almost every time.

did anyone make an adjustment ? nah....

people ask me if I have been to watch a game here and I say yes - twice...

the first and last time..

:D

I suspect he may have watched the beginning (at least) of the film, 'John Carter'...

To answer, imo, all the effects of gravity on the ball, would be lessened.
Newton would have given a better answer, though.

a football is about 22 cm in diameter, which makes a volume of about 5500 cm^3, which is 5.5 litres.
air density is roughly 1.3 g/L, helium's is about 0.2 g/L.
assuming atmospheric pressure inside the ball, by swapping the air for helium the ball will weigh about 6 grams less, on a ball that is between 410 and 450 grams, so the effect would be negligible (about 1%, less than the variability in weight and pressure allowed by the rules).

newton would have used (possibly now outdated) imperial units, though.

In the current Nationwide advert, the one with the 3 old dears on it, is the one on the left Mickey Flanagan in drag?

The Bible actually tells us, no, it doesn't. If you want to know more, PM me.

Is fasting any good for you?

Many work colleagues (mostly women) try out different diets and alot seem to be fasting for a couple of days and then eating for 5 days.

I did this for a while a few years back, on the suggestion of a mate who's a GP. Lost about a stone in a month, really easily, didn't notice any side effects other than being a bit peckish for two days a week. 'Fasting' in this regard means limiting yourself to 600 calories, and it's surprising what you can eat within that. Running around a bit more helps a lot, of course.

I still fast for at least one day most weeks, there's a lot of evidence that it is actually good for you. And you don't get to look like this without making a few sacrifices, girlfriend.

Mrs lost 2½ stone of baby weight doing the not eating any food diet.

I'm not totally convinced it's good for you long term, and you've got to be careful not putting it all back on when you start eating again, but they seem to be balanced enough diets with certain supplements.

I could do with it myself, stag in 2 months...

as above from m-b - there's one where you do every other day whereby you do 500-600 calories only.

or do it 2 days a week.

works. kept me about level weight wise after I was struggling a bit. not energy loss.

of course you could eat a 600 calorie burger on that day but I wouldn't recommend it...

loads of good reviews on it..........

I would bet I hardly even eat 2000 calories a day (well maybe the pastires put me a bit ott) in general

3 days a week I walk to the Coliseo about 40 minutes and remember some of this would be steeply uphill.
the plus is the other side is steeply downhill !!!!!

then I play pickleball for 2+ hours

then walk back home

ride a bike 1 day

walk the other day at least try to even do some other exercise too

and this is all at 8500 feet - I think that I burn more energy up at this altitude but not sure

so I eat to replace energy and it's all vegetariain. I eat fresh veggies every day, some fish, and carbos - either rice, pasta or quinoa

but I would do the "fasting" (it isn't really going without) and also take a look at the Muslim athletes who only drink water during daylight hours.

Hakeem Alajawon comes to immediate mind as he played in 'ouston. I am sure there are others.

sensbile anything actually would be the recommendation
