They've had two 0.8 tremors on Friday & Saturday & now today, a 1.1

loads of f-r-a-c-k-i-n-g in the States...

60 minutes (current affairs news prog) did a feature in that they have seen a rise of earthquakes in Oklahoma where it has been on the increase (not going to use the "ff" word again).

expected response from the govt.

Oklahoma now has more earthquakes on a regular basis than California. Are they due to ****ing?

In a few cases, yes, but in most cases no. Only a few of the over 2000 magnitude 3 and larger earthquakes since 2009 that have occurred in Oklahoma have been connected to hydraulic fracturing. The majority of earthquakes in Oklahoma are caused by the industrial practice known as "wastewater disposal". Wastewater disposal is a separate process in which fluid waste from oil and gas production is injected deep underground far below ground water or drinking water aquifers. In Oklahoma over 90% of the wastewater that is injected is a byproduct of oil extraction process and not waste frack fluid.

and the usual response from anti-****ing people

Parts of Oklahoma now have the same earthquake risk as California — and a new study found a scarily direct link to ****ing

Hydraulic fracturing, more commonly known as ****ing, involves jamming water deep into the Earth's layers of rocks to force open crevices and extract the oil or gas buried inside. For several years, researchers have shown a link between wastewater injection, a process that's used to dispose of waste fluids from a number of industrial activities and is similar to ****ing, and the incidence of earthquakes in a region, but a new study highlights just how strong that connection is.

Why are hot dogs sold in packs of 10 but the buns in packs of 8? This was some sort of quasi-philosophical question posited in sh*t wire-work Chow Yun Fat vehicle, the Bulletproof Monk, but I never got a clear answer.

No, the highway code states to let buses out if it is safe to do so. It's not a MUST in the highway code, which are the ones that incur a penalty by way of fine and/or points.

However, if the bus has indicated and already started to move in front of you (as in you're still behind it when it starts to move) and you decide to go around it and have an accident (hit the bus, another vehicle etc) then you would be at fault.
When I was being taught to drive a PSV the instructor "advised" me to wait until an expensive or new car was coming and pull out on that (but not to do it on my test)........

Probably the same reason most things are sold in packs of numbers you don't necessarily want or need. Burger buns in 4 packs, bacon in 8, eggs in 6, sausages in 8 and so on. You buy more than you need, and some gets wasted.

Although the hot dogs I sometimes buy in cans come in cans of 8.

I normally have mine in a sandwich mind.

Why is it the role of the "first lady" or FLOTUS is so important in American politics, whereas in more or less every other country they're just the spouse of the nation's leader?
