April, May, June. All traditional girl's names. Why not the other months?

July isnt massively distant from Julie (although, it was in fact named after Emperor Julius - cf August(us).

Sept - December are named after numbers - i.e. 7 - 10. They were shifted along the calendar by the insertion of the aforementioned 'Emperor months'

June is in fact reference to Juno

March - Mars

Not sure of the source of the other names, without looking them up.

Not strictly speaking 'always wanted to know'...

...and not worth a new thread, but does this image move - in the middle - as you stare at it?

Its part of a longer series of space photos, here...

Well worth a click...

These months are named after female Gods, the other months weren't.

April is named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.
May is named after Maia, an Italic goddess of Spring.
June is named after Juno, the Roman Goddess of marriage and female wellbeing.

January is Janus (gateways), March is Mars (war). February is named for Februa, a Roman festival of purification.

July and August were named after the emperors (Julius Caesar and Augustus)

September, October, November and December are the number months, for when they were the seventh through tenth months (septum, octo, novem, decem).

Out walking with the wife today and on returning home we check the "Health" app on our iPhones. Hers says she's taken 16,333 steps and covered a walking distance of 11.1 km; mine says I've done 16,174 steps for a distance of 9 km. We both have the same version of iPhone, the same software update; we're also the same height and are always in step when we walk together. So why does my phone make me look like the lazy one?

Unless you literally held hands and so did the exact same movements throughout then the counts will be different.

Did she spot something and walk over to pick it up while you stood watching? Did you wait while she queued to pay? One of you nipped to the loo?

I suspect all that banjo-strumming adds to her total.

None of the above, really. I can see there being a slight difference in the number of steps, but she had just 159 steps more than me, yet 2.1 kilometres more.

Same today, when we've covered the same distance but she has apparently walked two and half kilometres further than me.

This is one for DL really. I've been getting a lot of buses recently and they roar along nicely but when they come to lights the engine cuts out and they go along silently for a few seconds and the engine kicks in again and roars to life? Are these some kind of electro/fuel hybrid? When does the fuel cut out and the power kick in and vice versa? I was kind disconcerted at first as it seemed as if the bus had broken down!

Also DL, what's up with the new "double double" ring when you push the button to get off. When you press the bell it does ding ding, and then a second later it does it again. It must drive the operators crazy!

Get a weird 'clicking' sensation down the left side of my neck. Sometimes accompanied with a tug on the inner part of my left ear, sometimes accompanied with what feels like a tug at the back of my left eye... sometimes both.

From what I've read, it looks like it might have something to do with the sternocleidomastoid muscle, but I cannot see too much more about it. I don't have any pain or difficulty swallowing, or any hearing visual issues, just a bit unsettling.

Any ideas?

Don't be stupid SN. The answer is, obviously, to chop his body off at the neck.

I would suggest the easiest thing to do would be to swap Fitbits for a couple of days and see what happens.
Would soon sort out who the lazy b*stard was in that relationship.
