Threatening to Cancel Sky.

Postby Coops on Fri Nov 25, 2016 9:16 pm

I phoned up and threatened to cancel and just got 40% off for the next 10 months. That is with a full package.
I was on there for ages and was haggling hard but I got there. I also cancelled multi-room as my boys are at Uni now and didn't really watch it when they were home.
So I have just saved myself over £50 per month.

Dont expect them to do that sort of thing all the time. A few people I know have tried it on and been told, if you want to cancel, fair enough.

Yes and they need to follow through with it as sky will then call you about 2 weeks later and beg you to stay

I decided that I would be prepared to cancel. I came at it from the angle that they were offering new customers cut price deals and a free xbox, I told them I didn't feel valued.
I've never done it before and have been with them for a very long time, although the chap did say to phone back when the deal runs out (10 months) and they will see what they can do then.

I cancelled them in the summer and now every week I get an email from them. The email started off as 25% off and gradually went up. Now we are on 75% off with no contract. Still not gone back yet though!!!

I got 50% off the TV deal and line rental and free broadband for a year with £50 cash back as well.

I've not paid the full price in years.

75% and £100 credit if you push hard enough.

Did it for mum and dad and it now means Sky are paying them 50p per month to have Sky TV HD Boxsets

THey make you feel like you're winning but actually it makes you see just how much over the odds you pay normally.

I timed mine wrong. Threatened to leave beginning of the year, they didn't offer any deal so I went to Virgin. Now they're offering deals to all you lot. 9 years I'd been with sky.

Got a third off when I decided to see what I could get back in April. Might have to try a bit harder next year by the looks of things. Also did mine through Live Chat so they can't charge me for a phone call, bit on the slow side though!

Did you call them back nearer to the cancellation date?

Also, on your Sky box itself (I think) it will often have a deal for you when you cancel.

If you have Sky Talk it doesn't cost you and they'll also give you better deals.

Only threatening?

Coward.

Cancel it. Alternative sources are available for a fraction of the costs.

Works with Virgin media as well, I only have the broadband (no TV or phone) and when the most recent annual price rise £3.25??? kicked in I phoned up moaning about it and got £8 off a month, they deferred the rise for a year and gave me another loyalty £5 (my third I think)

I pay almost half the advertised price for 200MB. A bit like British gas they just rob the lazy and unaware. Get phoning and moaning people.

Work pay £28.50 a month towards my 'broadband package' and my in laws have our multiroom box in their lounge in France.

I can't cancel or they would have to watch French TV. As it stands I pay around £10 per month for Sky TV, Phone, and internet.

Why is the Virgin box so awful to use?
