Sorry for late reply, I did this over the phone. (BT)

Also HD free for 3 months (Sky) if you ring them just before the 3 months is up, you can get it for another 3months, rinse and repeat, been doing for the last 2months.

Didn't bat an eyelid when I phoned up to cancel.
£30 a month back and a comparable service means I don't either mind you.
The misses moans the BT TV thing isn't as good as the Tivo box but I'm not losing sleep over it.

my current "discounted deal" ends this month with sky. i have hd, sports, multi room, phone and fibre broadband.i currently pay £88.00
i phoned and told them i was leaving, citing that my kids, like their generation in general are more interested in youtube and Instagram and that we also now have netflix and amazon prime.
They offered me a sky q 2 tb box and an additional box with the exact same package, phone ,broadband for
£98.00 plus £100 set up cost. Worth noting that they only offer 18 month deals now. This tells me they are losing customers and trying to lock everyone in.
Anyway i declined and told them that i am leaving and had expected more having been a customer for 20 years.
Lets see who blinks first.

BT TV is the worst of the 3 in my experience of dealing with it for people. Just all out cumbersome and clumsy.

BT now fully up and running

Speed check on the line by the tech (backed up by an online speed test) 80mbps , considering im only on infinity 1 and suppose to get 55mbps im happy with that

slowly moving our series links over to the youview box which I have been impressed with so far

not bad for £45 a month

Just make sure that you change to an independent email service such as Gmail (other free independent email providers are available) so that you don't have to go through the hassle of having to change emails if you change your ISP again. My experience of moving away from Virgin email is that they say your email addresses will be kept for 3 months, but 2 years later they are still active.

Had the first call from retention's yesterday. £30 knocked off the bill straight away. Said I would let them know. Bloke asked if he could call me back in a week or so.

If they offer me the same deal and sky sports in I may be interested!!

Advice taken re email. I'm ok but the Mrs only has a VM account so getting that sorted.

Ive just been down the same process with Sky,

Eventually they offered me the full tv package, sports, movies, HD
Sky Q (previously had a Sky + Box)
32 inch TV

All for £40 a month

That is some deal. Did they offer you this before you got disconnected?

Nope, the best they offered me was the full package on my SKY + Box and no TV for £65 a month

My sky got disconnected and 3 days later i had a call from Sky asking what it would take for me to go back.

My friend got the same package as a new customer, so i asked for this, they refused at first so i put the phone down, 2 hours later they called back offering it

Inspired by this thread I phoned virgin today looking to reduce my £113 bill for 200mb broadband, sky/bt sports HD package, extra box, weekend calls.

Straight away they offered the 'VIP' package which was all the above plus HD movies for £86 and better phone package (not that i even have it plugged in).

I'm sure i could have bartered but that felt like a pretty reasonably deal to me to be offered first up but happy enough.

how much do you reckon Sky / Virgin are bricking it with regards streaming / Kodi etc
BT not so much as I'm sure they have still got their Core business.
Literally everyone I know has now ditched them in favour of a combo of Kodi Box/decent Sports subscription like Sportsmania/ Netflix

They should be really bricking it but those whose duty it is to care for the future probably don't give a **** so long as their remuneration package is high enough in the short to medium term.
