I wonder if the celebrity suicide is increasing.

Almost a follow my leader that engulfs already troubled people.

My strange experience of finding a suicide victim does make me think of it quite a lot...which worries me a bit.

Not that I would do it...........but just thinking about suicide, it's something I rarely thought about before witnessing it.

Robin Williams death (in particular) seems to set a few vulnerable people off.

.

It is statistically true that people that witness suicide or have a relative that commits suicide are more likely to consider this option themselves.
This is not meant to worry anyone because the figures are still quite low.

You sound like your doing ok DC, but if you are at all worried about it and the thoughts continue then it might be worth talking to someone.
You may even find that by talking about it on here its been a little cathartic.

I fear for Barry Davies after seeing his programme, last night.
I know he's 80 but he looks like he's dying.

In his day Davies was better than John Motson imo.

They were both good but I always felt Motson was more appreciated than Davies. We all love Motty after all and he is sort of cuddly and lovely.

Sadly, and it's the thing that I absolutely hate. No-one has had the good sense to tap Barry on the shoulder and tell him " it's all over Barry"...

Commentators can be like old boxers. Never know it's time to quit. I've watched Barry Davies deteriorate for quite a while now. He was still commentating at Wimbledon this year.

It's sad. Because he was really, really good.

A couple of good people worth mentioning today.
Nobel Peace Prize winner Kofi Annan and not a celebrity but a very special lady who was buried on Thursday.
Hettie Williams, who led her pupils to safety in 1966 when so many perished.

RIP Hettie.

Like a good few on here, I'm old enough to remember Aberfan. I was ten when it happened, we only found out about it when we got home from school. It dominated the news all weekend and beyond (it happened on a Friday) and when we went back on the Monday the atmosphere in school was strange, very subdued. It had clearly affected everyone, which looking back is most unusual for 'invincible' primary school children.

Good on you girl, requiescat in pace
