Took the wife to Goodmans in Mayfair last year, and had the most amazing meal

Anyone recommend a better steak restaurant in Central London? We're having a day out next Wed to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and I'm about to book a table but thought id check here first

Buen ayre - Broadway Market

No frills restaurant but exceptional steaks. Ive been to Goodmans, Hawksmoor etc this place beats them hands down and half the price. Decent boozer just down the road for after dinner drinks as well

I've been to Barbecoa, wasnt 'overly' impressed, although it was a work function so more about getting legless for free

Hawksmoor in Spitalfields was great when i went there, so thats on the list

WHUBen, that sounds interesting

Hawksmoor Air Street is in great location- the room is their best , or as good as Seven Dials - and does a fantastic two or three course express lunch menu

MENU
2 Courses £25.00, 3 Courses £28.00 (Available for lunch, until 6.30pm and after 10pm Monday to Saturday)
STARTERS
Potted smoked mackerel – Kohlrabi salad with celery hearts & Spenwood – Potted beef & bacon with Yorkshires
MAINS
Rump (300g) – Ash-baked root vegetables – Royal bream
Plus one side: Triple cooked chips – Baked sweet potato – Buttered greens – Lettuce & herb salad
PUDDINGS
Peanut butter shortbread – Sticky toffee pudding – Cornflake pannacotta

______

Failing that http://flatironsteak.co.uk/ in Beak Street is a great venue and even better value lunch

Zelman Meats in Soho is supposed to be very good mate.

Not been myself, but I know a few people who have and they've all rated it.

I like Buen Eyre. I like the location, the ambience and the quality of the meat

However, I am not a big fan of the side dishes, as I am more of a traditional steak and chips kind of guy

Hawksmoor for me. I enjoyed the entire menu more than Goodman's. But both are fantastic.

Cut at the Dorchester, Park Lane also very, very good IMO.

Yeah, it's excellent.

I remember going to Peter Luger in New York years ago and wishing you could get something similar in London, and now we have several branches of Hawksmoor, Foxlow, Goodman, Blacklock...

Hawkmoor is my favourite as they have nice beers, but they're all great really.

Flatiron is good value but steaks are too small.
