Ever been 'famous'?

Postby ironilunga on Wed May 03, 2017 10:55 am

What is your most 'famous' moment?

Anybody had a moment in the sun when they were a tiny bit famous?

I don't have much: In my teens I won the Maldon & Burnham New Years Day Snooker comp which I am fairly certain a very young Alli Carter also entered.

Also, after a home game against Boro me and the other half stayed in the BG hotel. In the morning got interviewed outside the club shop by Sky Sports following Roeders health problems. I had been on the piss the night before, smoked 20 b&h and sounded like Madge from neighbours when the interview was broadcast on TV (much to the amusement of my mates).

They filmed Time Team in my village, when I was kid.

I was in the background of one shot, for at least 6 seconds.

I wrote a book in the early 80's called 'Fly Fishing', which was published under a pseudonym to protect the integrity of the content. The book gained some fame a few years later when it was used in an advert for the Yellow Pages.

I've mentioned this before, but I was the actor who played Tinky Winky in the Teletubbies. For those unaware of the show, it was about 4 asexual humanoid teddy bears trying to live their lives in peace on Gary Neville's eco-mansion estate.

I was in the paper when I were a youngun after our school made a papier mache Statue of Liberty to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the US Independence.

My son was in The Sun newspaper, and a couple of local ones, a few years ago in a big spread for the Chelsea Flower Show when he presented HM Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall with flowers.

Other than that, I am anonymous

I was on a couple of tv programmes , one was about the coming of the Skye Bridge called '; Bridge Of Sighs ' , only shown up here in Scotland I believe circa '94 - the other was a Welsh tv programme filmed up here on Skye about Welsh speakers living and working in Scotland - they got hold of me via the Gaelic College - I was interviewed both at home and at work [ on the Ferry ] for both programmes . . That was filmed in '92 or '93 if memory serves me right - only shown in Wales .

You can see me in a couple of shots when the BBC filmed The Police at Hatfield Poly as part of ' Rock Goes To College ' [ 1978 or '79 ] . You can find it on youtube still -
