Here's one of my few claims to fame - I'm the bloke who looks round after the end of the first song [ Can't Stand losing You ] and the beginning of the second - the one with the stylish hair and beard - 22 years old .

That concert was in 1979 , think their first album had only been out for a few months and they were playing various colleges around Britain - I never did buy any of their albums though I did part with a few pennies for their single ' Dah Do Do Do Dah Dah Dah Dah ' - I prefer their earlier stuff too .

I once exchanged fire with Mido on Twitter.

I want to see the footage of James P on Question Time.

You must be an ugly so and so if they had to blindfold the cow before you milked it .

Trevor Francis once called me an idiot on Sky Sports Monday Night Football in 1998.

We were beating Leeds 2-0, and they had a corner in injury time at the end of the first half. The ball went into the BML, and I wouldn't give it back... the camera panned on me holding the ball and smiling at Hasselbaink as he was screaming at me to give him the ball.

Cue Francis: "And now some idiot in the crowd won't give the ball back!" 8-)

Side note: Ian Pearce played a blinder in a right wing-back role in the game.

I was plastered all over the front of The Sun and The Star attacking a group of Teddy Boys on Southend's Pier Hill in the summer of 1979. Both times my image was three-quarters of the front page with headlines screaming Skinhead Yobs bring Bank Holiday shame.

I had forgotten about these images until we were going through my mum's things after she passed away in 2005. My mum had saved both front pages with her keepsakes. The funny thing is my older brother had made the front page of the Southend local paper ten years earlier with a copper removing the laces from his boots also on a bank holiday. Mum had that too.

Funny the things your mum keeps.

. . . although my football team were on the front page of the 'Streatham & Croydon Advertiser' having had to play a game the previous saturday without any shorts.

. . . and I did once get stuck in a sofa and had to be rescued by the fire brigade. That made the front page of the Worcester Evening News.
