Or second choice , I'd like a nice little place in Dymchurch, on the Kent coast.

Dymchurch! 6 fingered people there! I could understand if you said Littlestone or Dungeness.

I'd stay where I am in Brentwood but buy a nice place in the sun. Perhaps Ibiza or Mallorca.

Simple really, everywhere and nowhere.

In 3yrs and 2 months when I get a state pension, I'm going to buy £5grands worth of old motorhome and visit all these lovely places and quite a few others besides.I've already given the house to the kids'mother, and they'll be old enough to do their own thing, so I'm off for a life on the road.

Retirement and a cottage somewhere near Loch Laggan would suit me just fine.

Wow I was not expecting my home town to come up. Maidstone isn't quite chav central like Chatham but it's not far away.

My choice - Anywhere except the West Midlands. Somewhere like Warwick or Leamington, or Canterbury for the southern option

Weird that, 'stone. I always just thought that meant Ingate...

Anyway, I personally like Maidstone and the countryside surrounding it. The old man was cremated up at the cemetery near Ashford. Fitting, I suppose. Never thought about the name before.

I'm not saying I'd like to live there, but I always enjoy visiting Yorkshire as it happens. Some blinding countryside round there, too, albeit a bit more extreme than Kent!

Pretty much in my dream spot on the South Coast. Living by the sea is special, don't think I could ever move away now.

The only upgrade is Devon or Cornwall, better beaches and surf, the downside being a bit more isolated.

I live in one of the worst parts of Maidstone but it's like Butlin's compared to Tottenham and Wood Green believe me. There are parts of Maidstone and the surrounding areas that are really nice. Bearsted for example is very nice and would have helped immensely if I hadn't have fallen asleep on the train and had to walk bank home drunk, in the pissing rain after getting totally lost for 2 hours the other night.

I'd build a new house at the bottom of our croft overlooking the sea - £30,000 for the road , £250,000 for the house - buy another house in Inverness , say £400,000 by the River Ness - buy a campervan , a couple of kayaks and a new camera and a few lenses . I'd be happy with that .

Flat on the thames for 1m. Near Tower Hill or Canary Wharf.

For a more remote standard of living, somewhere like Robin Hood's bay in Yorks, Southwold in Suffolk or Keswick in Cumbria.

An island. I've been thinking about this for a while, and they come up at reasonable prices now and again.
£250k for this one, would leave plenty over to renovate the buildings and/or build a decent sized house.

Assuming I don't have to work..Somewhere rural, hopefully within an hour or two of London. Small village with a decent pub.

Are you sure?

"Earlier this year, Jackson lost another battle - to open a cafe on the beach - after an 800-strong petition was gathered against her. "It was going to be a romantic French-style cafe, but they insisted it was going to be a burger joint. I had a letter from one local lady who said that I was no more than a recent immigrant, that I have no say in what goes on here, and that I should curb my mouth in public houses!"

I've had plenty of friends who grew up in seaside places and it's not all it is cracked up to be. Lots of bored teenagers and loads of locals not tolerant of outsiders. That said I would happily move to Poole or Brighton tomorrow if I didn't have to work.

Which part of Maidstone was it? The area I grew up in came under Penenden Heath (which is pretty nice), just the not so nice bit.

Drunk in Bearsted? You mean they have alcohol there like us common folk?
