The Snug Accident Log

Postby Bend it like Repka on Sun Aug 27, 2017 9:13 pm

HR law means that all Snug contributors should really report all injuries as policy.

So seeing as I have done my best to do myself in this weekend I shall post the first report.

Saturday 26th. Accident. Rushing too quickly to get out the local Lido I slipped on the metal steps and smashed my left shin. Looking down there was a deep split and blood pouring down my leg. The pool medic told me it was too deep to glue, so ended up with a nice Saturday evening at A & E having it sorted.

Sunday 27th. Stupidity. We wanted to get out in the nice weather so made a family trip to the local Tennis courts. I warned my lot that as the shin was sore and I did want to put much pressure on the wound, I was not going to tear around the court in my usual manner. Now there is an old adage that an injury leads to an injury, and I can now confirm this. After 15 mins of gingerly moving around I was clearly not putting my weight down in the usual manner, as I felt a pop in my right calf and a hot pain in the middle.
At least I'm not noticing how sore my left leg is any more.

Only Monday of Bank holiday left to go. :)

Please report all incidents promptly and keep the log up to date. Thank you.

As with my thread on Muscle Injury, I am on day 6, and if the calf went pop I would advise you to call work and stay off the leg for a least a week. Prop the leg up on the back of the sofa and spend that time sleeping downstairs. My leg at day 6 is now purple and many other rainbow colours on the side of the calf. Limping is compulsory as is getting some crutches. Such a small pop makes a mess of your leg. Thank me in 6 days

I managed to stab one thumb and slice open the other last night while cutting models off of a sprue. Last week's same injuries have only just healed too...

I fell down the stairs this morning while carrying my baby boy and managed to keep him from even touching the floor but damaged my shins and forearms and banged my head as well.

There are too many stairs in this house.

Seconded. When you throw up from breathing in enamel paint fumes, you know you're hardcore.

Thwacking the right side of my head stepping of a bus in the garage tonight. Got a massive lump over my right eye caused by the bright luminous yellow b*stard thing I failed to spot...

Seeing as I was on a hat trick, it should be noted that I umpired 62 overs of a hard ball cricket match and avoided getting hit. :scarfer:

My wife slammed my thumb in the front door when I was trying to fix it, think heavy oak triple glazed lead light stained glass, on my birthday to, which was lucky as we had been on the piss all day so it deadened the pain for a while. I was trying to fix it as it wouldn't shut, the little cover that goes over the key hole had flipped over and was block it. She was trying to slam it from the inside, I was outside attempting to flip the cover to the correct angle, in her tired and emotional state she kept on keeping on, while I yelled "stop!!" and other encouragements. But for the cover I would have lost my thumb, the door is that heavy. This happened in early June, the thumb is still bruised, and I can make people gag by showing the way the nail is ripped, bent and bruised.

A part of my front tooth fell off.
While eating cake at a children's party.

I've two front teeth that have parts glued on, to make it look like a normal tooth, after an incident when I wanted to test the hardness of a piece of asphalt..

So wasn't surprised that I've got a pirate's tooth.
Just that it was a sponge cake that broke the camel's back.

[Confidential Note - for HR eyes only]
I soiled myself while walking my dog at the weekend. For reasons unknown I found my bowels to be full of toxic gas and liquid when about 15 minutes from home, and despite my best efforts, was not able to hold it all in. Fortunately I was close to a dark alleyway with thick bushes on either side, and was able to relieve myself therein.

After a further movement when I got home, the problem seemed to pass, and I was able to report for work as usual on Monday morning.
