A phone with (as far as I can tell, nothing particularly new about it that hasn't already been on Samsung handsets) for a thousand pounds!!

Early comparison here would suggest it's pretty comparable to an S8, which are available good-as-new 2nd hand for 400-450 quid. Which isn't exactly cheap, but it's not a thousand ****ing pounds

The other thing that irritated me about the launch of this is the extensive free annual advertisement it gets on BBC News, as though the launch of a ridiculously expensive phone is actually "news"

Seriously though it is madness. But people will buy it anyway.

Yes, the whole problem with this is the BBC. :?

Looks like a slightly better, bit bigger version of the 7 to me.

The Beeb were excited because their employees will all be receiving a new one soon.

Always been an Apple fan, but you have to say there is nothing to get excited about here. Where is the killer feature that would want to make you drop a grand on this?

I have a Samsung J5 for personal use and an iPhone 6S for work and I prefer the Samsung all the way
I would never pay that much for a phone

For that much money I would want it to double as a vibrator for the missus.

I bought my current handset, the P9 lite, about a year or so back and will get a new one when it packs up.

It cost about £150 and costs me £15 per month.

There is nothing an Iphone, or any phone for that matter, can do that would have me pay any more than I do.

You're not really comparing like for like there though are you, new vs second hand. How much is one of those phones if buying brand new?

I do think this phone seems very over-priced though, but apple will always carry a mark-up and will always sell. No doubt in my mind that these will fly off the shelves.

I'm an iPhone user and have been for years now, I simply cannot change as I am too used to the layout etc. I am due an upgrade, it's just whether I get the 8 or the X

I thought the same way before switching a few years back. Samsung, HTC, and Apple all function pretty much exactly the same.

It does everything that my iphone 5SE does. Why weigh out a grand on something you theoretically already have??
All a bit sad & a bit of a willy waving exercise to buy the latest model IMO.

Will it improve my Pokemon Go experience?

No, therefore I will stick with my 5S

Presumably the bigger, brighter screen makes it easier for moped gangs to steal one from their owners.

Stick it on vibrate, shove it down her knickers and keep calling her! That'll do the trick. Its meant to be water resistant too now!

Not sure what is going on with the cut out at the top of the screen for the speaker. Looks crap.

New iPhone comes with Face ID, meaning it can easily recognise the idiot who spent £1,000 on a phone.
