- Really work on developing world-class frugality. I'm sure I could be spending a lot less on food, for example.
- Get better at DIY, decorating, and woodwork. Fit some doors downstairs and replace the crappy upstairs ones.
- More family time in France now that baby's here.
- Turn my rarely-used racing bike into something more suitable for commuting.

- Finish off the practical element of the PhD by May (Funding runs out then)

- Draft the first version of the thesis for September with view to a submission and viva sometime December January 2019

- Finally leave the world of student hood behind me and get a job

- Get myself back in shape currently weight has ballooned to 98+kg. Only a year ago it was 78. That needs to change

- Try to stay more positive and deal with the underlying anger issues I have at the moment (nearly all female related)

- Enjoy being single again, having just come out of a relationship that was damaging mentally

Try the library for "Timeless Simplicity" by John Lane (or get it 2nd hand,by definition, buying a new copy is a bit weird).First few chapters a bit dour,as he hammers consumerism, but develops into a useful and life-affirming little book.

Top idea. I'm no fan of consumerism, and anything that underscores my "careful" approach to spending is right up my avenue.

In all seriousness, my main aim for this year is to try and address the underlying happiness issues I have, predominantly brought about through a job that I currently loathe.

If it's ESRC funded, would love to hear more about your thesis via PM

- Main target is to lose 2 stone by the time we get married in May, I've put on 1.5 stone since moving in with my fiance 2 years ago. Part of this will involve getting back to exercising more, like I did when I lived on my own.

- Get the rest of financial plans in place to keep on track for being able to retire before I am 60 (in 5 years time).

- Complete buying my mum's house and renovate it so it is fit for them to live in - mainly knocking kitchen and dining room into one and related renovation.

- Decorate most of our bungalow, only done 3 rooms so far.

- Build radio-control hovercraft, I have the plans I just need to get started.

****, dude, you wanna have that mother bound and submitted after 33 months! I waited eight months for my viva and I wasn't picking up a cheque for five of 'em.

Get a fuckin' grip!

My resolution is that I'd like to end this year with a positive bank balance. Might have to sell one of the kids for medical research.

Yep I'm definitely going to be in the situation where I won't have any money coming in, next few months after. Need to get words on the page as soon as possible

Finish my second novel and pursue publishing.

Save enough money to realistically become a homeowner and a father.

I want to get my second novel published failing that I’ll go the self publishing route again. Thoroughly depressing going from the high of completing a book to the low of numerous, faceless rejections.

I want to take my self taught cooking skills to the next level. I plan on doing this by using new recipes and techniques. Oh, and practice a **** load.

Same here. Self-published my first just to let family and friends get a copy. It honestly didn't deserve publication though, being a kind of beautiful mess. And the publishing industry is very odd nowadays, the realm of chick-lit and teen fiction. Luckily my second work is a modern fantasy, and there is (supposedly) a market for that.

Best of luck, mate. I think there are a few writers on KUMB.

I am going along a similar route to Richard.

1.Stop gambling
2.Intermittent fasting and clean bulking for 6 weeks and see if I achieve 2kg gain.
3.Hopefully the bulking is successful which I will continue until happy and after that I will do a cut which I have never needed to do before but am quite eager to try out before the summer is over.
4.Learning from my friend about trading alt coins. I have no idea what it is about but am prepared to put in some time and effort to get an understanding from a very good teacher.
5.Get laid or get a girlfriend. Preferably both.
6. Go on holiday. Last holiday was 3 years ago and wasn't even a proper holiday.
