Re: the dinner thread
I made a lasagne yesterday with butternut squash instead of 3-hour braised feather steak (my usual recipe). Was actually delicious, and strangely, more filling than it's meaty counterpart. Will definitely be doing that again.

Also a big fan of lasagne. I could easily have it several times a week. Had canneloni for the first time which I assumed was pretty much the same thing once I mashed it up a bit.

Re: the dinner thread
Make no mistake, I LOVE vegetables, and have no qualms about going vegetarian as & when it suits. July to October is my favourite time of year, from an epicurean perspective. All the best fruits and veg are available and at their peaks. Had some squashes last year that were sensational, will be having a lot more of them (if I can get hold of them) this year.Rocketron wrote:We'll turn you yet, Dan.

Belly of pork with lots of crackling, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and gravy, most satisfying.

I gave up eating pork when I lived in England as supermarket pork was tasteless, so you had to source it from a farm shop or similar and even then it was hit or miss as to the quality and it was not too cheap either.
The piece we had tonight was plenty for the two of us, it was a third of a lump that cost all of <€6 and it was very tasty indeed.
However, regarding the 'heat thread', my lecce bill is horrendous!
Re: the dinner thread
My missus is vegetarian and I tried to go meat-less in January which lasted a grand total of 13 days. Although off of the back of her being a veggie I seldom order meat pizzas these days unless in a restaurant as the meat used in pizza delivery chains and frozen pizzas are awful in quality, although in saying that I do like the ristorante chicken pizza. I find vegetarian pizzas to have more flavour and taste fresher that their meaty counterparts.DasNutNock wrote:

Fruit & veg is of top quality at the moment. Bought some blackberries, cherries and blueberries at the weekend which I'll have with some greek yogurt and honey after dinners this week.
Had a salmon fillet yesterday which I left to marinade in soy, honey, garlic and fresh chilli's and cooked up some Pak Choi in the wok with some soy sauce, garlic and sesame oil. Lovely stuff.
