That's exactly how we did it and in all honesty it was banging.

Maybe a bit more gravy and a bit richer next time but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Christ I'm starving, especially reading about gravy dinners. I've got stew and dumplings to look forward to later.

 Steak and Kidney is the King of pies, no question, and with proper lumps of kidney not minced kidney.

Anyway, last night was Chicken Chasseur, Jacket Potatoes and broccoli.

Haddock and chips from The Bay fish & chip shop in Stonehaven. Quite simply the best I've ever had and a rather splendid evening it was with the moonlight shimmering on the North Sea as Mrs CRS and I sat outside enjoying our fish supper, which was followed by Turkish Delight ice cream from Aunty Betties next door to The Bay. Marvellous

Flat iron steaks i marinaded cuban-style for 24 hours. Very nice, not a steak I'd normally make, but they were an excellent price and much more tender and tasty than I expected. Definitely buying them again.

£15 a head for a highly-rated roast at a pub in Sunningdale earlier. Highly rated by C*NTS.

Making squash daal now which will cost about 5% of what went on lunch and be massively superior.

Roast chicken, sausage meat stuffing, roast potatoes, potatoes dauphenoise, Yorkshire puddings, roasted parsnips and sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli, sweetcorn, carrots, peas and gravy. Can't wait. The missus home from work in 30 minutes, dinner served shortly after. Just tucking into a few Black Sheep ale's before finishing off.

I made a Ragu alla Napolitana today. Fennel sausages, pork ribs and diced beef the meat in a nice ragu that I let simmer for over 3 hours, and then served with fresh tagliatelli.

Absolutely superb. The smell of it cooking all afternoon was doing me in and I did half a french stick just dipping the sauce. Next time I'm probably going to jettison the sausages and the stewing steak, and maybe throw in some lamb shanks and some more ribs, and maybe a chicken drumstick or two for some extra flavour.

but yea', the problem with ragu is that the smell makes me so hungry i eat pretty much everything else in the kitchen.

i wouldn't ditch the sausages for chicken (or anything else...), but give us an update when you give it a go!
