Re: the dinner thread
With the winter weather arriving whilst still technically in autumn, last night was a delicious beef stew that had been made a few weeks ago and although it was very nice then, we always make double quantity so we can freeze half for later, it tasted even better when re-heated last night. I love a stew at this time of year.

Organic mashed potatoes and Organic steamed carrots (from my mates allotment), peas and a veg Wellington (pre made) covered in a home made organic tomato (again from my mates allotment), quinoa and chilli sauce. Went down a treat!
Followed by vermicelli in hot milk and brown sugar! My treat for the week.

I'm assuming mushrooms and lentils play a big part, but would like to see the recipe.WHU Independent wrote:Organic mashed potatoes and Organic steamed carrots (from my mates allotment), peas and a veg Wellington (pre made) covered in a home made organic tomato (again from my mates allotment), quinoa and chilli sauce. Same again tonight but with a bulb of organic roast garlic in home made Chilli oil, 6 organic roast tomatoes (had too many potatoes lately!) in home made garlic oil, same home made tomato and quinoia sauce plus peas. All organic stuff from my mates allotment.
I was eating the tomatoes raw last night plus a pinch of salt - makes supermarket toms taste like water.

Re: the dinner thread
Sunday dinner with Sister in law's family yesterday.
Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Tatties, Honey Roasted Parsnips, Cauliflower Cheese, Purple Carrots (why?), peas & green beans.
Followed by Apple Crumble & custard.
Almost a perfect Sunday lunch, let down by the beef that was tougher than Chuck Norris. Shame because the rest was top notch and al ways tastes better when someone else does all the cooking and washing up !!

Did you add raw chicken to the risotto, or cook separately and add it in near the end?HighWycombeHammer wrote:Last night was homemade chicken and mushroom risotto. Cook seperate and add it at the end. That way you cook it for less time and it stays juicy.

Last night was prawn and mushroom spaghetti in a tomato puree and white wine sauce. Served with a lemon drizzle and a handful of rocket on top.
With a couple of G&T's.
