Re: the dinner thread
Roast organic tomatoes with basil and non dairy parmigano. a bulb of roast garlic, roasted asparagus, green pepper and broccoli in home made chilli oil and a can of roast chick peas in home made garlic oil.
There are no vampires here tonight and the atmosphere is somewhat "wafty" to say the least.

Vegetarian comfort pie.
Sweated off leeks, carrots, mushroom and garlic. Added fresh Thyme and Sage from the garden with lentils, tomatoes, stock and wine. Simmered for 20 minutes then added chilli flakes, Worcester sauce, soy and pepper.
Put in the oven with a layer of mash on top sprinkled with Parmesan.
Served with a couple of G&T's.

Lea and Perrins Worcester sauce - and a lot of others - actually has anchovies in it, but you can by vegan stuff as I have some which I use in cooking.
Yesterday - Roast organic Butter-nut squash, Tomatoes, Garlic, Broccoli and asparagus plus a vegan pie.
Today - Two sandwiches: One mushroom Pate, avocado and cucumber and one non dairy cheese, toms, cue and avocado both on brown wholemeal bread. OK but not a spot on a real dinner.

Re: the dinner thread
Dunno about you lot, but reading this there are some dab hands on here. Thing is, I can bang out pretty edible 'English' grub, even roasts and Christmas dinner, and one or two Italian pasta-type sauces (and chilli con carne), but apart from that I cannot successfully cook any foreign dishes i.e. Chinese or Indian. I'd love to be able to prepare bhajis and falafel, but my efforts are burnt on the outside and soggy on the inside. My attempts at stir-fry come out like Southend jellyfish when the Thames was polluted in the 60's. Can't even do US-style ribs. This is not a request for advice, just a confession of culinary incompetence!

Pho last night. My mate from work lives next door to an Asian convenience store in Angel so brought me a few packs of their Pho soup noodles in.
Threw in some chicken, chopped chilli's, green beans, coriander, bean sprouts, a wedge of lime and a few dashes of Siracha sauce. Lovely stuff.

Re: the dinner thread
It seems the "what restaurant did you go to" thread has disappeared into the ether, which I am gutted about as it gave me so my ideas for where to eat in London.
Anyway, thought I'd bump this as I noticed it was hanging precariously close to the trap door of page 5 of the snug.
Last night was a beef rendang. Delicious.

Last night was a lovely beef in beer with herby dumplings, made with shin of beef. Jolly nice it was, too.
Tonight, as is customary, is home made pizza night. Eldest has judo til 5:30, so it's a good simple unwinder for everyone. Make the dough before we leave in the morning, and it's extremely light and fluffy when we cook it in the evening.

Yesterday was Roast Pork, not my favourite meat for Sunday Roast but Mrs CRS served up a knockout dinner, pork was cooked to perfection and the crackling was out of this world, as were the tatties. Pudding was old school, Apple Pie and custard - all in all it was a marvelous dinner.

Homemade curry saturday, with leftovers today.
So much more satisfying than a takeaway.
Stew tonight.
