Re: the dinner thread
West Indian Tomato and mixed veg spicy soup, potato and spinach Roti, smoked Aubergines in smoked paprika and liquid smoke, sweet potato fries, Yam, spinach, potato, and chick pea curry and potato wedges, vegetable crumble and Angel cake. All vegan food made by volunteer cooks from food that local shops were going to throw out that day., All free or for a donation at The People's Kitchen https://www.facebook.com/peopleskitchenfeasts/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .
Lovely home made grub from and by people from all round the world. A real mixed bag. You can turn up and cook and get free food at 6pm. I turn up at 6pm, make a donation for me and one random other (who may not be able to pay) and then do an hours washing up/drying up to help out. There's a great sense of community and it's a lovely way to end the weekend.
Added bonus - you also get to walk away with any food that is cooked and not eaten on the night plus any food that they haven'y used. I walked away with a massive head of organic garlic, 8 lb of potatoes (all kinds) plus 3 loaves of local artisan made bread that sells for almost £4.00 a pop plus 4 Tupperware boxes of cooked food.
That's me sorted for dinner for most of the week.

Re: the dinner thread
Sea Salt flakes, used for “koshering” meat and fish. Nothing special about it, though I used to wonder if it meant deiodised salt or something.
Dinner was slow roasted lamb shoulder w/ garlic & rose, served with home made flatbreads & crunchy salad. Yum.

FreeWheeling wrote:Make your own lamb kebabs CH
slice shoulder of lamb, onions and in a bag throw in some cumin, paprika and ground pepper and a few glugs of oil,
mix it up and let it marinate for as long as you like, the last two hours before cooking throw in some salt and lemon
cook on a griddle pan
That sounds good. I've been looking around to see where I can get some authentic meat to make gyro's/kebab's and this look's just the ticket. Only issue is getting good lamb here.

Going to try this one. If you had rice instead of the past could turn out like a jambalaya which I do make with smoked ham, chicken and andouille sauasage.psychoscoredthelot wrote:chicken & Chorizo arrabiata and pasta

The lovely Ms. Eggs' fish pie and peas.
I must admit, I was a tad peckish; it didn't even touch the sides!

Re: the dinner thread
Mrs is due to do Jambalaya with chicken sausages in the slow cooker today.
She made it a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't expecting much but it was top notch. Looking forward to it.

Yep, best one I got from the old thread was the Gordon Ramsay Bollito Misto, which is bloody lovely and which I make regularly.ageing hammer wrote:Well done Cockney Hammer for bringing this thread back.
The last time we had this it was amazing the amount of recipes I picked up from it and still use the tips today.
It's really great to see how other people prepare their grub and very enlightening.
