Easy to miss though amongst the 57 varieties of Cheddar on offer. I personally like Lancashire but there's even less of that than there is of Cheshire.

Yes, have seen it online but have been back to both Asda and Tesco and still cant find the bloody stuff.
I do quite like Double Gloucester though.

You can definitely still get Caramac as I get it for my wife every Christmas (spoilt she is, I tell you).

7p from the newsagent round the corner from me. Saturdays consisted of a bottle of Merrydown cider and 5 "singles" which were either B&H or Rothmans.

It was halves on a 10 box of Sovereign for me, £1.66. Normally washed down with a bottle of white lightning or Merrydown 20/20 from the offy next to the bingohall in Hornchurch.

Can you still get Rothmans Superkings? I used to love them as a teenager, as they were longer than a normal snout. Embassy No. 1 were the short ones that you got less in iirc.

Superkings were made by John Player if I remember rightly and were always a bonus as they were a little bit longer than most ciggies. Forgot about MD 20/20. That was really lethal stuff as I remember with a hangover that rivalled no other.

Anyone remember that abomination that was Thunderbird wine? Christ almight, that stuff was terrible back then. Dunno what it'd taste like now.

Also, someone bought me a Pernod and Black the other day (why I don't know). One mouthful was enough to remind me what a vile concoction it really is.

Still get Mad Dog, used to be the drink of choice about teen years back when I was a teen going out for the evening. Last time I had it was after a breakup, was meant to be going out with mates, but did the full bottle quite quickly. Got up to get changed and fell straight through the coffee table and remained there for a few hours till my folks got home.

Have we had this yet -- supermousse. I used to eat a lot of them, and sicked quite a few up, too, I seem to remember.

Oh god, yes! It came in dry and sweet in different coloured bottles (brown or blue??) and was made from pears IIRC. The same manufacturers brought out an apple version called something like Midnight Express. I could be wrong about that but if you had drunk Thunderbird you would understand why.

I guess that they would be called craft cider and perry now.

In the mid 70s I had a 4 year sojourn in L'pool, many nights were spent drinking T-Bird in the Yates' Wine Lodge. From memory the blue label was slightly less poisonous than the red label stuff.

Wasn't that the stuff that tasted like it had been harvested from a Tramp's inner ear. !
