I got charged £3 for a soda & lime in a self-styled “upmarket” pub in Kingston a while back. Told them they could keep it.

An ice cold orange and lemonade hits the spot after doing the garden on a hot afternoon.

Good call. When you’re off the pop and aren’t allowed an iced lager, nothing quite so thoroughly demolishes a hot-day thirst like a cold lemonade drink. My preference is with lots of ice, fresh lime and lemon and a dash of lime cordial. 2 pints, please.

I was drinking too much at home and find that alcohol free beer really scratches the itch. Down a couple of 0/0.5% beers and I really don't feel the urge to open some wine or actual lagers.

I mean, they're never going to be as good as a proper beer, but the best ones I have found so far are...

BrewDog - Nanny State
Becks Blue
Budvar Lager (0.4%)
Super Bock Stout (0.5%)
Big Drop Citrus Pale Ale (0.5%)
Big Drop Chocolate Milk Stout (0.5% ABV)
Krombacher (0.5% ABV)

This place has loads.

I love a drop of Irn Bru or Cream Soda.

If I am off the alcohol, the last thing I would drink would be a non alcoholic beer. What's the point?

Because the flavour, even without the alcohol, is nice, I suppose.

I can't do nights out in pubs, or clubs, or places where there are drunk people without alcohol. They're incredibly boring places (a quiet pub with good company or if something is on the box would be the exception).

I've yet to try a non or low alcoholic lager that tasted anything like the real thing. If there are any that taste as good as Moretti or Heineken Export, I would happily drink them but all the ones I've tried taste like piss.

I think breweries have actually got pretty good at doing OK low-alcohol beers, like some of the examples I posted. Agree that it's a little pointless, but if I get in from work gasping for a beer, but grab an ice cold Budvar 0.4% and neck it, it does trick my mind and kills the craving.

I don't get that if I have water, or a soft drink. That's my main reason for drinking them. The familiarity of the bottle, label, the fizz, taste - they all trick my brain.

Moretti is terrible stuff IMO, it's got a really disgusting smoky flavour from what I remember.
