I got married in a tiny village in Charente Maritime end of June back in 2010. Wedding kicked off at 4pm in the afternoon and it was pushing 40 degrees

120 odd Brits combining those temperatures with unlimited booze was a messy affair!

Not quite as bad as that but I got married on 4 August 1990 and it was in the region of 35 degrees.
My wedding reception was nearly everyone in shorts except me, the wife and my dad who was old school and wore a full 3-piece suit.
Going to be the same sort of temp tomorrow I suspect

Set to what temperature, one of the apprentices in office, keeps setting it to 24, feel like I'm on fire.

It's two crappy and rather noisy blow units with the heat exhaust pipes hanging out of the ancient sash windows.

The temperature gauge on the front tells me it is currently 23, although it feels cooler.

WTF? You let a kid play with the heating controls? No, absolutely no. That cannot be allowed to happen. I am absolutely seething here.

Ours is in a rotten state, and the office was like a sauna this week. I responded by wearing shorts and a t-shirt and working in the other (newer) office, which was lovely and cool.

I shall continue to wear shorts, horrifying the younger staff, who look like the extended casts of Love Island and The Apprentice, until it is addressed.

This weekend has again been insufferable, after the welcome 'cool down' from last Sunday into the beginning of the week it's gradually got too hot once again IMO. So much for saving electric in the summer, fans on the go 24/7!!

Roll on Autumn..

Storms forecast for about now in the south east, and then a return to average temperatures tomorrow. This time there is no sight of high 20s temperatures any time soon though (like last week where we had a storm, 2 normal days and then low 30s heat again).

Could be the end of the heatwave seeing as there is nothing 25 and above forecast up to and including 20th August, and then we're approaching the end of summer.

That's exactly where I'm describing - a place called Châteauneuf-sur-Charente. I really liked it there but sometimes the weather was just unbearable. Oh and the frogs make ***** beer too.

Completely and utterly. They sell it by the gallon down there, can't think of anything worse.

I went for a tour of the Remy Martin distillery once and the tasting wasn't bad - after I'd got over having a moan about dishing out big glasses and only filling out a tiny drain of congnac at the bottom to taste.
