I mean really, can you imagine the reaction to that? I mean, it's very 'right on' but you will only attract meetings of vegans and dissafected Green Party people. You wouldn't only be up against teenagers old enough to vote, but old FB fogies and the financial might underpinning the social media industry (despite today's news about FB).

You'd collect the country's normal yearly income within 10 minutes with everyone posting on social media complaining about it

I already pay tax on my line rental, broadband service, mobile phone contract and the multiple devices I use to access the Internet. Why should I pay more?

I don't want vegans. They haven't got the kind of money I need for my campaign.

I think I'm probably going to need a very popular celebrity to front it.

If it discourages c*nts from taking 800 selfies a day, I’m all for it.

Given this policy, I'd suggest Jonathan King

Taking a selfie and placing it on a social media site attracts a surcharge of 1p + £35.50.

That could keep two or three people in incontinence pants for nearly four days. It's very little to ask.

Just making them pay the amount they should be paying compared to the amount they earn over here would be a great start.

I'd be in favour of a social media levy though.
