Hair of the dog, if you can, and if the pint of water and paracetamol have been forgotten.

isotonic drink midsession, and another before bed along with a high strength vitamin B6 tablet, high strength vitamin c, and magnesium citrate. Works for me anyway.

More beer works best.

Water and food before bed.

Plenty of cold sugary liquids and greasy food coupled with crisps and sweets if not.

When I was 18 all it took was a cup of tea, some orange juice and a sausage sandwich, now I'm in my mid thirties it takes 2-3 days.

Like others, if I can remember, I'll try and down at least a pint of water before going to bed. However in the likely event I forget and wake up with a raging hangover, I find a good old pony clears the system and follow this with a banana and plenty of Coca Cola, full fat not diet crap.
Fully cured I then want to eat fatty stuff like McDonalds or KFC.

I've been taking 1 each day between breakfast and lunch.

As well as reducing hangover symptoms i've found it has helped cut down on coffee with less of the crazy headaches I'd usually get.

That's great to hear Ron

Related to the mental health thread, Glutamine is a GABA precursor. If I can mansplain a bit, GABA is an under focused on neurotransmitter which provides us with a sense of calmness and focus. The medical profession always jump to SSRIs to mess around with Serotonin uptake in the brain, but a lot of symptoms like anxiety or depression can be caused by an imbalance of neurotransmitters started elsewhere, i.e. low GABA or low Dopamine. The other GABA precursor which is excellent is l-Theanine which I have mentioned before (it's more affective for those with straighforward anxiety attacks).

Glutamine though is usually in abundance in the body, but as we get older and we stress more, it's gets depleted. Throw booze into the equation, and you can feel jittery or a bit headbound. It might not always feel like it works, but it's a bit like Vitamin C - you take a supplement and you don't feel better, but having readily available Vit C in your system will stop you from feeling as bad as you might when in the presence of certain illness or anything else that puts pressure on the immune system.

And that's basically Glutamine - a background supplement that will take the edge off stress and hangovers. You might not always realise it, but it will stop you from really suffering once levels of Glutamine are built up across time.

You've sold it to me, any recommendations where to get my hands on some and not get ripped off?

Does it work mate? I’m off to Dublin tomorrow for a family party and don’t really fancy feeling wrecked all day Sunday.

Could make something like that at home, got raspberry leaves. Was worried when I saw the spoon with the white powder though.

Do you know of a recommended daily intake of l-glutamine? I take mine on a refular basis to help digestive issues, but I take a pretty low dosage as I don't tolerate it well. I go for about 5mg per day of powder, mixed with water.

Might have to give it a go & see if it helps the hangover!

Edit: Sorry, 5g, not 5mg
