This time of the year is annoying.

b*stard cold first thing in the morning, 3ºC this morning, but I know it will be warm and sunny later so if I wear a coat I will be carrying it coming home.

Dark when I leave the house now too which is ****.

I am growing old and frail. And my 1 year old daughter is less liable to yell the house down if she isn't freezing.

It's funny, when I got out of bed this morning and it was b*stard cold, I thought about setting the heating tonight to come on in the morning for an hour or two, and then I thought of Dan keeping his heating off until Christmas and wondering how the **** he does it.

It was fine until we had another baby. Fortunately, I got replacement windows fitted this summer, so the house remains pretty temperate, regardless of the outside weather. Heating was "on", but with the wireless thermostat in baby's room set to 20C, it doesn't actually switch on very frequently.

And yes, I have a browser open on all my appliances, staring at the smart meter reading...

You mean their battered, knock-off UGG "style" boots?

That's cheating Johnny. :) If I was making sloe gin this year (I'm not - still got too much from previous years to justify making more) I'd be holding on a bit longer to pick them. Around my way they look fantastic this year.

Just made about a gallon (5 and 1/4 litres to be precise) of rose hip syrup. Anyone else make it? I can recommend it but you'll need to be quick this year. I picked the hips yesterday and already a fair percentage were squishy and unusable. Tastes very like lychee so if you like that you know what to do.

I hate winter. Hate it. It's just decay, bleakness, and death. Shove your bracing walks up your ass.

I've been sweating my bloody b*llocks off last couple of days.

I hate this time of year, one minute bloody freezing the next sweaty. Do I go to work without a jacket and freeze in the evening, or with and sweat it up on the tube.

Roll on winter.

I find this time of year just as depressing as the few days after Christmas.
Gets dark really quickly and all the leaves are falling off the trees. It all just seems so downhill from here for 6 months.

Roll on April/May, which is my favourite time of year. Apart from the Hayfever.

I still don't get people whining about the heatwave(s) this Summer after having such a ****, snow-filled Winter that seemed to last forever.
