I find it quite easy stopping drinking. I can go 2-4 weeks or even a couple of months with no hassle.

Having a beer (or ale) is a special treat for me. I like savoring different beers and experiencing different flavours.

Some friends of mine can't go a night without drinking a minimum of five cans (or pints). That to me is a drink problem.

Days 13,14 &15: IN and out of the pub, drinking tea and water mainly - all good so far.

Day 16 (Tomorrow): Nearly fell at this hurdle the day before the deadline. I got invited to a beer/gig/film launch and they sell one of my favourite beers there - Signature Brew's Roadie - and I know that I would probable have one or more. However I can't make it now so it will be a non drinking day tomorrow and that's my 17 days done.

Am I looking forward to a drink on Friday? Yes I suppose I am but not in that "I really need a beer" way. I am looking forward to the taste, the ability to be on the same level as my mates but that's about it.

I'm already thinking of going from Dec 2 to Dec 23 without any booze but I'll spare you the updates for that one. :)

Having given up most of the week, Fridays and Saturdays have become ever more important in the relaxation stakes.

The more I put up with stuff (mostly work) Sun-Thur, the more I feel like a beer on Fri/sat.

Well done , Viet , mate .

The days I devoted to drink in the past was shamefully selfish and stupid and I know I'm a better person for giving up entirely .

Christmas is coming and everyone else in the family will be having a drink at one time or another but I won't be missing it at all , in fact I can't honestly remember how long it's been now , it could be 9 , 10 or even 11 years since I gave up .

Do you ever have an occasional nip in a coffee, TOMoS?
I'd understand if you didn't.

Day 61, the longest spell without alcohol for me since I was 14 years old.

Best sleep I've had in years, consequently my mood swings are less pronounced .

Day 17 - did it.

Day 18 onwards: MY mates come over from Ireland on the Friday and we hit it hard. I spent most of the next day in bed and went out and did it both Saturday and Sunday. On Monday I felt rough and dirty. Rough as in my Kidneys had taken a right kick in, my Brain was deffo fuddled and my **** and piss had changed considerably, for the worse. Dirty, as in I felt I had let myself and my body down. I was also sluggish, lethargic and felt lazy.

I stopped drinking and started training on Monday to Friday and felt better. Then I got invited to a mates pub for some drinks and it went a bit crazy till 4:40 AM. On Saturday I got up in time to watch us and was back in bed, after wasting a day, at 10:30pm, where I slept like a baby till noon. Today was a wash out day too, but I feel my energy returning and I'll be doing a lot of things tomorrow.

When drinking I feel a need to eat high carb foods: chips, biscuits, crisps bread etc which I don't have when I'm not drinking. I'm not drinking the rest of the week until Saturday when I've got an all day booze up. However this year I will take it sensible and not start drinking early at this convention. I've made a promise to myself and I'm going to stick to it

No , no alcohol whatsoever .

Having said that I did eat some home made mince pies yesterday which according to Asda had some ' ruby port ' in the mix .

I could if I wanted have a drink , I could probably have two or three and I could go back to having none but then I couldn't honestly say ' I haven't had any alcohol for ten years ' .

I gave up alcohol for months back in the early 2000s then I met up with some old friends and had 3 pints with them - I felt horrible afterwards , dizzy and tired .

I just decided alcohol wasn't my drug of choice any more and gave up completely - it took a lot of self control but after about three weeks it does get better .
I don't miss it at all , honestly .

Nothing Saturday or Sunday after about 10 pints Friday night.

I start most weeks intending to not drink again until the weekend and this week is no different, sadly the nature of the stresses of work mean I normally struggle to get past Tuesday without having 1 or 2 at home.

I usually have four pints on a Tuesday night. It has become my main social night out as most of my friends have young children and do family stuff at weekends. I don't drink at home unless we have friends over. I actually think alcohol has been beneficial to me - a good de-stress and it makes some of my more introverted friends sociable and open. I suppose it's all about moderation.

I love the pub in the build up to Christmas so I will certainly be drinking more next month.

December !st will be my second anniversary of booze free.Me and the missus. Really didnt struggle with it. Sounds smug I know, but not meant to be, more like if I can do it anybody can !! Loads of advice, but just will powere which turns into sheer bloody mindedness after a bit. Still go to the pub, Drink n/a beer (could NOT survive without it !!) but all good. Lost a couple of stone, (was drinking around 50 units a week) sleep really well, function well in all departments !! Cant recommend it enough. A long way to go to match TOMoS but enjoying the ride..Give it a go, you might just surprise yourself...

Usually 3 . Friday night, all day Saturday and the odd night in the week, but only gently in the week.

I never drink at home, always in the pub.

There should be no shame 'falling off the wagon'. We all do that from time to time.

Took about 4 months off earlier this year and felt great. Got back on it one night & within 8 hours had spunked a grand at a casino & had a near miss with a midget.
