As an aside it used to be ‘Star, News or Standard’ around that time outside East Ham tube station

I don't think there was a London evening Star 50 years ago. I certainly don't remember it.

Looking back, it would be early 60’s: I’m in my 70’s

Does that stack up or am I losing it?

Yes it stacks up, I had to Google it though.
The London Evening Star folded in 1960, I was three years old, hence no recollection of it.
