sendô wrote:^ I remember when I was in Paris going to the Louvre and seeing the Mona Lisa. It's a big room with this tiny portrait at one end with a velvet rope forming a large perimeter around it and a big crowd gawping at the famous painting. I was somewhat underwhelmed by it, I didn't really think it was worth the hype.

At the other end of the same room though is The Last Supper, which is huge and is indeed a very impressive painting.

I could have written the exact same post as I was more impressed with The Last Supper too! The scrum around the Mona Lisa was painful.... also, just around the corner from these two is The Raft Of The Medusa - a fantastic painting.

Also, I preferred the Musee D’Orsee to the Louvre.

They might have worked out why zebras have stripes. It ****'s with the navigation of flies when trying to land on them.

^^ Interestingly, they tested this theory by dressing some horses in zebra costumes. I rather like that.

Literally puts everything into perspective. It's ten minutes long, but every second is golden.

First ever photo of a Black Hole

The image reveals the black hole at the center of Messier 87, a massive galaxy in the nearby Virgo galaxy cluster. This black hole resides 55 million light-years from Earth and has a mass 6.5-billion times that of the Sun.

^^ those photos, where to start? Early days of Canary Wharf seems like I was washing mud off the bike on a daily basis, but above all 30 or so years on, I can still remember the horrendous pen of Pura foods.

Was Pura the place that we always smelt at the south side of the Blackwall?

I was told, but wonder if accurate, that it was some kind of pet food 'refinery'.

I think south side of the Blackwell was more likely to have been 'Tunnel Refineries' who used to produce glucose syrup.
