I think my weirdest one is any seafood with the exception of smoked salmon.

I grew up going to my grandparents house every Sunday for breakfast from one of the jewish deli's in Gants Hill. To this day I will eat as many smoked salmon & cream cheese bagels or sandwiches as you are willing to put in front of me.

Any other seafood...I just can't find a way to enjoy. Because of where I live now, I was lucky enough to spend the whole of Christmas week on a tiny island in the Caribbean where they have the freshest seafood you can imagine. I challenged myself to eat some sort of seafood for lunch and dinner every day in some sort of foolish attempt to wean myself onto it. I only really enjoyed a prawn dish from one particular restaurant where they were absolutely bathed in an oily garlicky sauce and could have been any piece of white meat such was the amount of flavour that managed to squeak through.

Drinks wise, white wine. I'll drink any red you give me and find a way to enjoy it. White? They all taste like icy vinegar to me.

I was once 'treated' to/with this by means of a home made recipe. Basically, SWMBO had bought too many whelks back from a day out at the seaside and whacked them into a saucepan and spiced & boiled the **** out of them, also stinking out the village!

Questions were asked in the local that night like "What the hell was that smell this afternoon - like old knickers being boil washed?".

I just kept schtum in the interest of marital relations.

As referred to by Samba, it was that bad I have levelled it at Lawro on his appreciation thread.

There's not a lot I won't eat that I've eaten before, although there is quite a lot in the 'take it or leave it category', including things like cauliflower, sprouts* and baby corn (just tastes like soil).

There are some things I have no interest in putting in my mouth, like rollmops which look vile and will clearly have an unpleasant texture.

Weirdly, I don't like smoked salmon either - I just find it salty with a horrible chewy texture - but I like all charcuterie meats (prosciutto, salami etc).

*people who say, "you're mad, sprouts are lovely sliced up small and fried with lardons and chestnuts" are idiots - you are enjoying the bacon, butter and chestnuts, you fools.

I like both and I'll let you pass on mushrooms mate but cauliflower, come on. Who doesn't like cauliflower cheese, or roasted cauli with indian spices. Bloody lovely.

With your new found veganism you're missing out on the super cauli!

Never been a fan of cottage cheese but then it's in a sweet potato muffin recipe that is top drawer so it obviously brings something to the party.

Artichokes are incredible. Can't fathom that. Griddled with a rib eye steak.

Ok, I'll give you a go on the colly; next time you host perhaps do some cauliflower experiments and I'll genuinely do my best. I have no idea when these vile proto-cabbages are in season, but at some point I feel obliged to give em a go.

'New found veganism' indeed...

Was sitting in the office once moaning I was hungry, my co-worker offers me one of his sandwiches, so I ask whats in them and he tells me pickled herring, I turn round and say no thanks to which he replies 'they've got gerkins in them as well'...............as if that makes them more appealing

The sentence of this court is that you will be taken from here to the place from whence you came and there be kept in close confinement until a date of execution, and upon that day that you be taken to the place of execution and there hanged by the neck until you are dead.

And may God have mercy upon your soul.

Goats Cheese. Needlessly over powering taste which means whatever you have it with just erases all other taste in place of the essence of goat. I went to Barleylands recently and when you walk into the goat sanctuary it just smells of goat cheese.
