I had a close group of mates, 4 of us, around the age of 12 they suddenly decided that I was a problem and I wasn't to be a part of their group anymore. It was ****ing savage looking back. Suddenly I was wandering around at break and lunch on my todd with no pals.

I moved on, got new mates and so on, and just put it down to kids being dicks. In fact looking back, one of them was a bit weird at the time, and just turned weirder as his teenage years went on. The other one was just a bit of a dick, and the third I'm actually pretty good friends with again.

Kids can be, well, childish, and teenagers are utter merciless *****, particularly when it comes to ganging up on an easy target.

Getting anything you feel you really want, especially something you've wanted over a long period of time.

It literally never lives up to how you imagined it. And then you're onto the next thing. And it hasn't made you a happier, or more replete person.

The journey is the destination. Important to enjoy the ride, cos that's all there is.

Masturbation.

The compulsion to do it is strong, yet the stark realisation that so regularly strikes you afterwards triggers a depressive feeling that renders the whole experience a negative sum gain.

Not being sexist but I find masturbation a bit like ironing.

You can do it yourself but if you get a woman to do it for you it turns out so much better.

Coming to the realisation that I should have either fully applied myself to something I am passionate about or spent a lot more time on life experiences (travelling etc..) much too late in life to effectively do either. :-(

Realising that by not taking my career seriously at all, either when choosing one or by coasting through my 20s and 30s, I am now somewhat ****ed

To be fair, it is not a sudden disappointment or even a surprise. Even when I was coasting through my career and not really applying myself I had the prediction in my mind it would prove a problem at some stage - and so it has come to fruition.
